Wireless Home Theater – How To Shop For Wireless Home Theater
Monday, December 1st, 2008The prominence of wireless home theater within people`s entertainment show pieces is likely to escalate over the next 12 months.
The prospect of doing without the sight of ugly speaker cables is mouth watering and a wireless home theater set up is just the ticket. But why is it that they aren`t yet as prominent as they should be?
Two possibilities includes price but more so quality. There has been a long held belief the wireless version is yet to match the quality of the cabled set up and this is true in some respects but with technology increasing at a rapidly expanding pace this argument is quickly diminishing.
So what do you look for when shopping wireless home theater? Sticking with the major brands is usually a good policy and Panasonic and Sony are good starting points. How much will you pay? This depends on your budget but systems are available for as low as $200 or less.
At the other end of the scale, prices ranging up to $2000 and beyond are available for those with a savvy budget. There`s a suggestion that because wireless home theater is improving so quickly, it may pay to stick with a price range at the middle level, between $400-$1000 and then upgrade when appropriate.
Sony DAV-LF1 System
There was a time when this system was considered very expensive but can now be bought for under $1000. It comes highly regarded with home theater circles.
The use of wireless rear speakers takes care of those unsightly cables and it`s excellent and appealing design are a hit with prospective buyers. Sound quality isn`t compromised because of style. One drawback with this system however is it`s infrared line of sight set up which can be irritating if your room has plenty of traffic walking across it so keep this in mind when looking at the DAV-LF1 system.
Panasonic SC-PT950
Probably not as appealing in looks as the Sony DAV-LF1 unit however, it certainly doesn`t sacrifice in sound quality. It comes with the fashionable tower speaker set up as well as a wireless rear speaker. It can also expand to multi room wireless audio however, for home theater purposes, this is entirely optional as you don`t want to be taking away from your main showpiece.
