Getting a new sound system – check the dimensions to make sure its not too big or small for your nee

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Ideally you should get around 6 Hours Music Play whilst running on battery with around 10 Hours Speech Time whilst on the battery. With regards to input and output you should be looking for microphone inputs and 1 line input, with additionally an active output with line out and speaker out.

A small meetings system for up to 100 People including microphone, stands and leads can be very cost effective as it comes as a complete out of the box solution. Suitable for use with schools, churches, businesses and entertainers who need to cover no more than 100 people.

If you want a portable PA system you should make sure the whole unit is portable with wheels and a pullout handle for manoeuvring and a pole mount for sitting on top of a speaker stand this will ensure you can take it anywhere you like.

If you have found the PA system that you want it is a good idea to then look around at who are the leading supplier of your chosen system as these will be able to offer you the cheapest of the market or throw in some free cable leads if you do not ask you will not get so its always a good idea to check discounts around.

A pa system or to use its full terminology is an electronic amplification system that consists of a mixer, amplifier and loud speakers that are used to feed the voice through the systems to make it louder so many people can hear the music.

A system with just one single speaker, though you can buy additional active or passive units to add and supplement the sound from a large range of PA systems. We recommend buying the system with a single lightweight speaker stand and a waterproof cover to ensure it remains portable and even use it in wet conditions.

Unlocked Phones, We Take The New Big Screened Quad Band Movie Phone For A World Trip

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Big screened, bronze, a phone with class. Here’s a quad band phone you wouldn’t kick out of bed. This international phone puts paid to the belief that all quad band phones are ugly and they act funny.

We all know that there are not that many world phones on the market these days. This is pretty surprising in itself given the amount of roaming and global business done by people has doubled, if not tripled. But There’s a definite shortage of good GSM movie phones, TV phones or multimedia phones out there, especially in wholesale markets.

This is definitely a problem if you’re wondering how to start a cell phone business online and need a source of wholesale unlocked GSM cell phones to get you through the day.

Wholesale dropship company Chinavasion has come up with a nice number to help out online phone vendors and international travelers looking for phones capable of GSM roaming. The quad band swivel screen cellphone with accelerometer a quad band unlocked phone that’s definitely laid on the class with a fairly thick ladle.

They’ve thrown in a fairly juicy 3 inch QVGA touch screen monitor which can be used portrait when you’re using the phone’s WAP functions or putting together a MMS. Or you can flip it up to a 16:9 ratio widescreen mode for a more enjoyable media experience.

As with most of the cell phones coming out of China these days the manufactures have had the sense to unlock the cell phone and throw in two SIM cards.

They’ve also thrown in a nice feature, an accelerometer, which is essentially what makes the iPhone and iTouch move stuff around.

Numbers Game That Spells Big Business

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

“What`s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”

When William Shakespeare wrote those words, he had no idea of smart phone numbers such as 13PIZZA.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority has sold about 10,000 of the numbers from its website since last September, raising more than $15 million.

The problem is, some people who have been trying to buy a number relating to their business are losing out to the deep pockets of adman Jack Singleton and Telstra, who are then offering to rent it back to them.

Singleton, the son of John Singleton, has spent $1.5 million buying up about 1000 numbers, mainly in travel and financial services because, he says, these are the industries spending the most on above-the-line advertising. Singleton`s company, Phone Name Marketing, then charged a fee based on a flat monthly rate or a “success fee” relating to the number of calls, he said.

The ad man said he had not intentionally bought any names relating to the sex industry, not for any moral reasons but because such businesses did not spend much on advertising.

1300 Australia, a joint venture between Telstra and the marketing expert Gavin Scholes, has invested $7 million in 3500 names, including 1300CHICKEN, which it leases to Red Rooster.

Mr Scholes rejects accusations of telesquatting or land-grabs, saying that his company buys only generic names, not specific company names.

Both companies quote from overseas research showing that smart numbers in print advertisements can increase responses by up to six times, and 14 times for radio.

The communications authority is not interfering in the process. It says it has set the reserve prices low, at $500, and given preferential treatment to charities.

But the stakes are high.

Last year the Melbourne businessman Fiore Inglese paid more than $1 million for the number 13TAXI, which is still not in operation. Mr Inglese said yesterday he had not decided what he would do with the number and was “keeping his options open”.

Many bidders have become hooked on the website www.phonespelling.com, which translates numbers to letters, and vice versa. Using that website, it is easy to see why the number 1300 432 584 raised $28,678. It converts to 1300HEALTH and has been bought by Liposuction Australia Pty Ltd.

Who says there`s no truth in advertising?

Phone Names is Australia`s leading provider of 1300 numbers mixed with names. Increasing your advertising response rates through the use of phone words is based on helping consumers recall your business number.

Make Homemade Carp Baits And Save Yourself Big Winter Fishing Money!

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

Most carp anglers consider their bait a top factor in their success, yet few truly understand it enough to maximise its full power and possibilities for maximum effect. Your bait is vital in manipulation of carp feeding and of other behaviours which seriously puts the odds of success in your favour so read on…

Carp live on mostly protein based foods which contain essential fats and oils which provide most of their energy; in their natural water environment carbohydrate foods are comparatively rare. In contrast to modern humans, carp do not use carbohydrates predominantly as their energy source. Humans used to be wandering hunters following game and were far more predominantly protein eaters, supplementing their needs with a wide variety of plant, marine, plant and other food sources.

When humans got to the stage of farming rice and wheat and barley for instance, they had an energy source that could be planned, planted and manipulated for cropping in future years. For this reason, accurate calendars became crucial to human survival and in schools today we are taught that carbohydrate foods and not protein foods are the major sources of nutrients essential for human survival across the globe in many varied cultures.

As the farming technology improved the need for local game for meat and its vital amino acids and nitrogen from their protein mattered far less to us humans. Many of our nutritional needs and essential energy needs were met by the farming of cereals, beans, pulses and other crops including maize and rice. But protein sources remained vital for many reasons. Cattle, sheep, goat, poultry and fish farming for instance still have huge impacts on our modern human diets today; even in modern fast foods. Consider MacDonalds meals, beef burgers, chicken burgers and milkshakes etc…

Carp of course have never farmed their foods and have always survived on their naturally available foods. Carp have especially used their natural foods oils and proteins to supply their energy requirements (as opposed to carbohydrates in humans on land,) and carp have evolved to deal with a very wide range of potential food substances. In their aquatic environment, carp feed mainly on the bottom where bottom living food item invertebrates thrive in nutrient rich conditions, although carp obviously filter feed too on plankton and suck in very nutrient rich algae and so on.

A very substantial amount of the nutritional profiles of natural carp food items are protein rich. This is highly indicative of how carp have evolved and can be very useful in helping us create new bait formulas. Carp are called slow suction feeders because they primarily feed in bottom silt using all their specialised senses for this purpose. Any more experienced angler has caught carp with very dark heads caused not from natural colouration necessarily, but from their habit of feeding most of the time with their heads buried in thick dark staining bottom silt. But in this rich environment carp are masters of detection and this is significant to any budding carp bait maker of course.

Most often carp main food sources vary from bloodworm, tubifex, and other worm or worm-like organisms, to caddis fly and other fly larvae, to leeches, and in various conditions and depths, mussels, shrimps, snails and many far less well known benthic and non-benthic organisms. These foods are rich in essential amino acids that carp need to survive. These substances are released into the water column from these foods in tiny concentrations, but which of course carp detect very easily and are stimulated by and attracted to! This is just one reason why carp are highly attracted to a wide variety of soluble proteins and proteinous food items and ingredients. Carp can digest and use proteins extremely efficiently internally, arguably better than humans by comparison, considering they are cold-blooded with restrictions upon their metabolism, including reduced enzyme activity in low temperatures such as winter.

Although carp lack a stomach in contrast to humans, their gut and digestion in general is absolutely suited to their food and environment and a certain degree of their essential nutrition can actually be absorbed into the fish directly from the surrounding water, such as certain vital minerals. Also their refined chemical detecting senses, chemoreception and olfaction and other internal responses to external water-borne stimuli mean carp are incredibly well adapted to their world, and very different to humans in our air environment.

Carp have long been extremely finely evolved to do this and the ancient group forming that of teleost fishes including carp, are a much older group than that of man and primates for example although the teleost fish are in fact our ancient ancestors. The commonalities between us and fish physiologically, biologically, chemically, and in part physically is not coincidence. When we breathe and when we taste or smell, the organs and tissue surfaces used are covered in water for instance.

On the point about how carp have evolved to best detect, graze upon, (or prey upon,) exploit, digest and internally utilise their food for growth, repair, energy, reproduction and so on, there are other just as enlightening examples. Mountain gorillas and species of bears such as the koala and giant panda thrive primarily or even exclusively on plant energy sources, such as on bamboo shoots and stems, or eucalyptus leaves.

These animals have like carp and us humans, also evolved specific digestive systems for the task of most efficiently digesting their most naturally abundant foods. This is similar to cows deriving their needs from grass (bamboo is a grass too.) I used to wonder how it was that cows survived; having been led to believe that grass was indigestible and contained very little essential nutrition. But of course, the hidden answer was evolution and bacterial enzymes, which cows, carp and humans all have in common of course and all use to digest food every day to survive…

Historically, the largest animals ever to live on the surface of the earth have been not protein or meat eaters, but vegetarian dinosaurs… Considering that algae is the basis of the food chain for millions of creatures, it’s worth bringing these into focus and include spirulina and other lesser known but probably even more effective species for use in carp baits at this point. Krill has one of the most significant biomasses of any creature on the planet, adding up to a total well above the total of that of man.

This small prawn-like crustacean feeds on plankton (including species of algae) and is the prime food that supports our current largest creature on earth before it goes extinct that is; the blue whale. (The quickly rising demand for and harvesting of krill from the Antarctic ocean natural niche krill fishery is now more than likely going to kill off the blue whale forever…)

Making carp baits using protein ingredients for carp in particular is beneficial from a dietary needs perspective. Protein ingredients and oils are obviously highly stimulatory for feeding and carp top primary needs are for the nitrogen and amino acids found in proteins. New cheaper and more sustainable protein sources are being sought by both the food industry, for fertilisers and also for use in bait making as the marine fisheries become more depleted.

The use of poultry bye-products such as protein rich chicken waste like feather meal and keratin are obvious examples which are very effective in carp baits and chicken per se seems to be highly fashionable among contemporary commercial bait makers.

Now as carp bodies are the product of their most abundant foods presence and impacts over the long course of evolution, then it makes logical sense to apply these or their examples in successful carp bait design. For instance, if you apply the specific substances (or similar ones) found in natural carp foods which enable them to identify them and which stimulate feeding, then good result will follow naturally although many facsimiles of these substances will often suffice too as well as many completely artificial ones, such as certain growth promoters, and taste enhancers etc!

Betaine is one obvious example of one such natural substance, and it is found in many natural carp foods including crustaceans, molluscs and fish etc, but in varying levels of concentrations. (Betaine is also found in us humans and has vital roles and functions in the body such as protecting the liver, like it does in carp; this is highly significant…)

This variety of concentration also applies to other carp essential substances, such as amino acids, and obviously certain natural carp foods will contain more of those vitally important substances. But there are certain differences between some of the amino acids that most turn carp onto feeding most intensively, and those which are most essential to sustaining their essential dietary needs. A balanced nutritional bait covers many carp dietary needs of course, but a bait designed specifically to contain high levels of specific feeding stimuli (or other physiological stimulators and bioactive substances of other kinds,) can also be exploited…

Crucially, you are at complete liberty to include as many of these vitally important substances, (and as much of them as you like,) into your homemade baits and ground baits formats and recipes. You can guarantee your personal secret carp baits are very different to any your carp have been experiencing at your waters. This can very seriously give you many edges and keep you consistently ahead of the game.

With readymade baits, unless you had it tailor-made to your exact formula, you are often unsure exactly what is in there, how fresh it is, what ratios or levels were used, or even how the bait might work, (or not work!) This is just one reason I have more confidence in what I make homemade for myself knowing what I know today, after over 30 years of carp fishing and making homemade baits.

But bait is not merely about using true fish feeding triggers and any of a massive variety of attractors, enhancers and so on, it is about actually conditioning the bodies of fish to your baits and manipulating their brain chemistry, moods and modes of behaviours and even their actual locations…

This is a great motive for making your own baits apart from the financial one of being able to save yourself lots of very good money. Plus the massive sense of satisfaction you get from catching personal best fish on your own homemade baits is something that must be personally experienced to be fully appreciated! But even if you only want to use readymade baits and ignore all of the massive advantages and obvious benefits of making your own unique baits, it is a fact that the more you know about how and why your baits truly work, then the better you will be positioned to leverage them to your own unique advantage in this increasingly very competitive sport!

Having an improved deeper practical appreciation and understanding of bait has been repeatedly proven in reality to produce far better results for those in the know, than of those competing anglers who are mostly ignorant of this extremely powerful knowledge. Of course not all carp anglers have the same amount of skills, experience, time, finances or knowledge with which to compete against those with more of any of these things. Ideally you need short-cuts to help you compete and often these arrive in the form of an insight or snippet of information from a well informed fellow angler.

Inevitably the most truly powerful bait secrets are the ones that can make the most difference in results for any angler regardless of fishing ability, skill levels or experience. Such secrets are usually the very hardest earned and are not given away for free. Probably the biggest reason for this is that many things that can make all the difference are a little ahead of most carp anglers level of practical appreciation when it comes to application of scientific information, but help is available…

Wisconsin Men, Minnesota Women Win 2008 Big Ten Cross-Country Titles

Wisconsin`s men won their 10th straight title, Minnesota`s women repeated as champs but Nicole Bush of Michigan State won the individual title Sunday (11-1-08) at the Big Ten Cross-Country Championship Meet in Ann Arbor (MI).

Nicole Bush toured the 6,000-meter course (3.72 miles) in 20:15.8 to win by 12 seconds over runner-up Gwen Jorgensen of Wisconsin. Michigan State finished 3rd in the womens` competition.

Bush was subsequently named the Big Ten Cross Country Athlete of the Year 4 days later. Last season Bush placed 5th at the NCAA Championship Meet and hopes to do better this year.

Following Bush were senior Lisa Senakiewich in 5th, junior Becky McCormack 20th, sophomore Emily Langenberg 28th, junior Emily MacLeod 29th, sophomore Carlie Green 30th and senior Sarah Price 37th. The Spartans, who hoped to compete for the title, did not have their best day.

The Minnesota women edged Wisconsin, 63 to 67 points, to successfully defend the title they won last year. Led by junior Megan Duwell`s 4th place finish in 20:29.7, the Golden Gophers next four scorers were 10th, 14th, 17th and 18th, a great example of team running in a major meet. Wisconsin`s women ran 2nd, 11th, 12th, 15th and 27th.

Key to Minnesota`s victory was their 10th place finisher—senior Gabriele Anderson who did a major gut check and passed 3 Wisconsin runners in a 300-meter finishing kick, clocking 21:07.2 and sealing the deal for the Golden Gophers.

Minnesota knows how important every scoring runner is in influencing the outcome of a race. It was just a year ago that the Golden Gophers captured their championship over Michigan State by a single point.

Wisconsin`s men have had a stranglehold on the conference championship, winning their 10th consecutive title with 40 points to Michigan`s 57 and Minnesota`s 60. Every other team was far enough back they could have been in another race in a different city. Michigan State, for example, finished 6th with 138 points. Purdue finished last with 296 points.

Hassan Mead of Minnesota won the individual title, covering the 8,000-meter course (4.96 miles) in 24:26.4, but Wisconsin took home the team trophy with a 2-4-7-13-14 finish. Michigan ran 6-10-11-12-18 and Minnesota was 1-3-15-16-25.

Sophomore Landon Peacock was 2nd for Wisconsin in 24:35.9, senior Christian Wagner was 4th in 24:46.7 and sophomore Jack Bolas was 7th in 24:50.5.

The Wisconsin runners do not mind practicing a lot and it shows. Ten straight titles is an incredible feat and means the other Big Ten teams are doing a lot more wishing than working in the off-season. Talent certainly helps but 8,000 meters is not a 100-meter dash. Lots of runners without really great leg speed could run fast enough to finish much better at 8,000 meters.

The difference between the winning time and Michigan State`s first finisher—junior Spencer Beatty at 25:07.7—is 41 seconds and change. When you compute the winner`s time divided by 20, you end up with an approximate 400-meter pace of 73 as opposed to Beatty`s pace of 75 for the same distance—call it a quarter mile at a 2-second faster pace. It isn`t like the winner`s pace was some kind of land speed record.

All of this suggests that the reason Wisconsin has been winning the conference championship for 10 straight years is a lot more mental than physical. The biggest distance talented runners have to compete with at this level is really the distance between their ears.

Sure it takes some talent to run at this level, but let`s get serious here. Middle of the pack runners do not get college scholarships to run, winners do. Running really is 75% physical (you do have to train), 20% mental (you do have to believe you can win) and 5% inspiration (you have to see yourself winning BEFORE the race).

I confess and do not apologize for being a total homer. I graduated from Michigan State in 1966, and cannot stand to see this nonsense of Wisconsin dominating the Big Ten as a birthright.

Michigan State`s men and women runners need to get with it. Rather than have the coach sit around and try to identify who might be a leader among the Spartan runners, the runners need to realize that leaders do not wait to be labeled a leader, they announce themselves by what they say and do.

Michigan State needs more runners to become leaders. Don`t just go to practice, go through the motions and wait for the coach to decide if you are ready to run. Discover a burn deep inside of you that causes you to not just want to run but to NEED to run. Develop a white heat passion for competing and winning.

Never deny anyone the right to finish second, third or fourth, but understand that is not for you. Make up your mind to win and then pay the price to do so. If you cannot win as an individual, then you win as a team, but win because it is important to become the runner you need (not want) to be.

Do not give your coach a choice about whether he will have you run or not. Put your coach in a position where he or she would be a fool not to run you. When the gun sounds to start the race, take your place at the front of the pack and never look back.

Do not allow someone else to determine how successful you will become, they have not earned that right. If no one is stepping up on your team, you step up, set the pace and they will follow. There is no vacuum for followers, the vacuum is for leaders.

When enough runners improve and become leaders, they help motivate each other. Two or three leaders will pull other runners along and make everyone around them better.

When someone beats you, make sure it is the worst day of their life, that they are so sick and exhausted at the end that they will think twice about ever challenging you again. Make them hurt like they have never hurt before and never want to hurt that bad again.

Remember that everyone wants to win but there is a 1,000 miles of difference between wanting to win and having the will to prepare to win. Don`t ever cheat yourself out of the opportunity to become a champion. Life is short and memories are long.

Settle for nothing less than the person you were meant to be, a winner from the top of your head to the bottom of your toes. Believe you can do it and then get about business of making it so.

It doesn`t take any talent to quit on yourself, it takes a lot of effort to become the person you were meant to be. Think like a champion. Believe like a champion. Run like a champion.

The Boston Celtics Big Three to Harness the Team Effort

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

It takes a team and collective effort to score a win. Surely, everyone contributes to the success of the team; a winning blow is harnessed from each one’s efforts. It takes a lot of courage and pre-season tune up to flex muscles and to project the team’s energy level.

As the season games move on, fans and spectators alike are anticipating high Celtics tickets sales. With their impressive performance it is possible that the team can make it to the Finals games. As the previous season`s champion, a lot of Celtics ticket buyers and fans are counting a lot on the Big Three along with the improving performance of Rajon Rondo on the hardcourt.

The new season challenge

The Celtics Big Three, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen, play their trio-partnership to support the team’s play and make it to the championship games. Wyc Grousbeck, the team’s managing partner, chief executive officer, and governor is excited to see the end result of the 2008-2009 season games. With heated rivalry back on track, the Boston Celtics have to make a strong run for the Playoffs.
.
Having garnered most of the championship banners, every team in the NBA would love to defeat the Boston Celtics. In every game, each may play hard and fast just grab the championship title. Although the team has performed well during the previous games, they would need to keep their energy level up to advance to the Finals.

Last year, the team played an NBA record of 116 games and is required to play intense games right off the bat. The team will have to try the same effort and maintain the energy level to make it through another exhausting and challenging season. Luckily for the Boston Celtics, having a solid bench helped make starters less exhausted and more energized to keep up with the run.

One of the good players of the Boston Celtics is Tony Allen. Allen is off to an excellent start. He can be part of both the offense and defense play. Needless to say, flexibility is one of the keys to the team`s recent success.

With the improvement of the Celtics’ bench and the start trio or “Big Three” sharing the workload, the game can be only be more exciting this season. The trio’s game is all about passing and rebounding as well as contributing to team defense, which could be as important as making scores.

The Big Three and the bench

Much of the team`s success has a lot to do with strong defense. The Boston Celtics benefit from having the Big Three not only as good score pointers but also as good defense players. Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett can also make good contributions when it comes to assists and rebounds. These three key players are also capable of closing in the lead or pulling away with huge leads. Point guard Rajon Rondo is a also great starter.

But aside from the key players and starters, the Boston Celtics also draw strength from its reserves. With a solid bench, the team can maintain a lead and easily make a run for the win. The recent matches of the team shows a good promise for making it to the NBA Finals this season.

Big Carp Bait Ingredients Vital For Your Fishing Success!

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

Why not catch more carp now by discovering more about vital carp bait protein, carbohydrate and vital energy ingredients that carp must eat in order to survive… This really will help you get more fishing bites. Remember getting more bites equals more big fish caught!

Eating food keeps us and fish alive but in both cases this involves the body producing heat as a result of chemical reactions involved in digestion and the supply and use of oxygen in body metabolism. Heat is a very crucial aspect to exploit in carp bait design but there are many things to exploit in increasing your bait performance with more efficient delivery in effect of that vital energy needed for survival in carp baits; and these seriously turn carp on big-time…

All biological systems obey the law of thermodynamics; which is the balance of energy needed to sustain and maintain an organism to enable it to survive. Energy needs and losses from bodily maintenance and swimming activities (including respiration and muscular actions of the heart for instance,) must be available first before more energy is made available for growth. Survival always comes first and is a powerful aspect of carp bait design in many obvious and far more potent but more obscure ways that everyone can exploit!

Fish eat firstly to provide for their key energy needs in order to survive, just like other animals. Just see the very significant energy requirements of explorers going up Everest, or the poles and you will see how important energy supplied by food really is. Part of the demise of the Captain Scott disaster was due to the effects of insufficient energy derived from the available allocated daily food ration which in effect led to the men catabolising (in effect cannibalising) their own bodies. There is a very significant difference in the composition and profiles of the foods which supply the most energy for fish compared to a human however.

Humans utilise carbohydrates primarily while fish utilise proteins to a far greater extent. Lipid, oil or fat sources are still the most efficient energy source for both although this is very easy to over supply as with applying high oil carnivorous fish pellets(e.g. salmon pellets) to carp, or humans living on high oil and high carbohydrate junk food diets with little quality proteins and other nutrition (and activity) to balance things.

The bulk of scientific data on essential carp nutritional requirements has mostly been the result of carp trials in artificial conditions such as in tanks, clear water intensive farming aquaculture systems, and intensive culture conditions in clay pond culture conditions with very high stockings of fish etc. But all these conditions have not truly been representative of the actual carp needs of the fish we are fishing for in our carp fisheries stocked with other fish and complicated by a huge array of other variables.

Even using data from the formulation of feeds for carp is if used directly is not necessarily ideal for our purposes in designing baits because our aim is not maximum growth of fish, but in realistic terms, optimum attraction and feeding stimulation qualities and other characteristics which ensure advantages over competing baits for example.

Aquaculture feed development is an ever changing science in itself. Formulas for different carp species, stages of development, various temperature regimes and various specific purposes and needs and more, such as flesh colouration and taste etc, all come into play and are not all relevant for our needs as anglers.

However, certain feed aspects are extremely useful such as stimulatory growth and feeding trigger substances. Commercial fish feeds and mostly aimed at maximising energy and nutritional needs in farmed carp for the best carp growth rates at least cost and wastage in feed to the farmer financially (and least feed energy loss in the fish themselves!)

The questions of boilie, pellet and ground bait actual biological conversion rates and nitrogen waste build-up in our fisheries are very important. Because fishing baits used as free feed are subject to bacterial activity, fortunately uneaten feed enters the ecosystem in other ways and does not become harmful in the huge majority of fisheries, except perhaps in the case of tiny de-oxygenated waters in high summer temperatures perhaps.

Studies by various universities and individuals have shown that wasted nutrients from fishing baits very rarely build up like some anglers imagine and it normally takes far more free bait to harm a fishery than is used by most anglers today. (Of course very many carp have become educated into actually eat bait as it breaks down because it is often safer to eat than get getting hooked on fresh carp baits.

This is part of the reason many carp in much pressured fisheries avoid capture for long periods of months or years and has been a challenge for anglers in many fisheries in the UK. Bait designs and bait applications specifically for overcoming this problem are very valuable and are well proven for many bigger warier fish in UK waters and this is something I’ve personally have had to become well versed in…

The major area of fish farming concern is that of the biological conversion of feed and feed energy into growth and marketable fish mass. This is a world away from what we anglers really need which is a bait a fish will actually mouth and preferably consume repeatedly having even sampled just one bait. Much of the time it is obviously beneficial to have fish already in an intensely stimulated excited mode of feeding behaviour to produce maximum chances that fish will make mistakes on our rigs and get hooked more easily.

It is worth remembering that feeding behaviours begin not with the consumption of food but it’s detection at stages previous to this by any or all carp senses combined. Carp can filter feed and derive nutritional benefits from leached substances coming from baits in the water, without actually eating them; and this is something else to exploit!

The application of carnivorous fish feeds used in bulk predominantly for carp is a health concern because fish like salmon have a greater lipid demand (for basic energy needs) than of carp. Use of these feeds can lead to vitamin E deficiency and other imbalances rather like those suffered by junk food addicts and you can give carp too much stored energy for their own good! There are many other differences between carp, catfish and salmonids feeds and although the same feeds will be fed on by the other species this does not mean they ideal for long term health when applied in bulk.

Those amino acids which form the protein foods we feed carp and trout are not going to have the same effects in the same way on similar sensory systems of different species of fish either. Fish are sensory specific and even taste specific in many ways.

The recommended optimum dietary requirements of carp are not necessarily equal to the ideal stimulatory attractiveness of a fishing bait because of the other factors needing to be enhanced, reduced or overcome. For instance one ingredient might become a deterrent if that bait has been used to hook enough fish enough times, then fish will by their survival instinct often totally refuse it or feed on it in much more creative and surprising ways to avoid becoming hooked!

One key point is that you do not need to have a complete food bait to catch carp. You can of course go down the route of covering as many possible potential essential dietary needs as possible and produce a balanced bait, but this is only one part of the equation because individual fish just like individual humans may well have unique needs and slightly different preferences and health needs and deficiencies at any point of time in the year. Some fish will be far more vulnerable to capture at certain times of year when their energy and nutritional needs are maybe no so well met.

One big challenge for us anglers is the competition from natural food available to carp which has incredible dynamics in regards the position and effects of baits in an ecosystem for instance among other things. The abundance of regular quantities of carp baits entering a fishery can obvious lead to an increasing of the availability of natural foods.

Where fishing baits are regularly introduced the balance of natural food items in this chain can be changed in various ways with many impacts on fish feeding, location and patrolling patterns and behaviours.

In some cases at times abundant fishing baits actually make it harder to catch some fish because they are able to exist on natural foods exclusive to fishing baits – and become even more so as more becomes available… The abundance of regular quantities of carp baits entering a fishery can obviously lead to an increasing of the availability of natural foods.

Often a fish is far more vulnerable to capture despite its survival instincts and avoidance of fishing baits, if it cannot get enough essential nutrition by exclusively eating natural food items only. This could express itself in many ways in catch results and energy is an important feature too on this point. For instance, how often do rarely caught fish get landed during the depths of winter, or immediately before or after spawning? It’s all food for thought that can lead to better catches…

The information on essential dietary needs of carp most often does not take into account the presence of natural food in the presence of a test food item such as that of milk casein and gelatine. In fact it really makes a big difference when you consider that a carp is fully designed to fully digest and utilise its natural food items as opposed to an artificial food item composed of many foods such as in a boilie bait or pellet designed for salmon, trout or even specifically designed for carp!

The actual energy and nutrient requirements of carp compared to the actual biological conversion and energy supplied by anglers baits may very well not be as great nor as efficient as thought by anglers…

Many anglers think about their baits in terms of nutrition but really miss the other points about actual feeding stimulation processes and mechanisms. In the real world, what if you have raised the level of natural food organisms because of the abundance of bait fed into a lake? What if the fish can pick and choose whether they actually need fishing baits to supply any needs at all at any particular point in the year?

When I began carp fishing in the 1970’s a couple of cans of luncheon meat or sweetcorn, or a pound of homemade boilies, ground bait, paste bait or a pint of maggots or a loaf of bread would have been easily enough bait for a successful 12 hour trip. Now it is easily possible to introduce 1000 boilies upon arrival and get a fish hooked within 10 minutes on some waters. It seems very obvious that the use of more bait (despite far higher stocking levels,) has affected feeding behaviours at certain times of the year especially during the colder months.

It is true that the majority of the fish you could fish available to you prior to the boom in carp fishing in the UK were of double and single figures and it has been said that at that time there were as many twenty pound fish in Kent waters as the rest of the waters in the UK put together. Obviously a new carp angler in the UK today could never fully appreciate just what catching a twenty pound carp meant at that time and the opportunity to actually fish a water that held a thirty pound fish was incredibly exciting.

It is funny to think now today that once upon a time catching twenty individual twenty pound carp in a (UK) carp season fishing from June to March, was a very tough goal just 20 years ago on most UK waters. But I know for certain this can be achieved in under a week on the right UK waters today.

I myself caught 23 carp in 5 days and nights, averaging just under twenty pounds, at Shotgate reservoir in 1991, (topped by a mid thirty pound fish.) This type of result is very possible for anyone utilising good bait application on many waters today. It still seems incredible to me today that on many UK waters today, if you said you had caught 20 carp over twenty pounds in a whole year at a water then you would most likely not be regarded as a particulary good angler.

I caught 60 twenty pound carp and 10 thirty pound carp over one June and July period at an Essex water, and 15 forties at a Sussex water in one and a half seasons; and these kind of statistics are rather more unusual but very significantly the result of bait knowledge and its powerful leverage. To be totally honest you can catch more many more big fish by getted educated far more about bait design and its effects and applications becuse it is such a powerful leveller of fishing skills, talent and experience.

Even to catch 3 twenty pound plus fish in an hour, or 5 twenty pound plus fish in just 2 hours is not particulary unusual today – when you know what you are doing with bait application on the right UK waters. It’s a proven fact that discovering more about bait generously pays you back – big-time…

Here are 5 big reasons why you should consider getting a whole house filter.

1. Whole house water purifiers will provide you with fresh, clean water from every water source in your household and they cost less than drinking bottled water. You will be able to cook, bathe, and clean with safe water 24/7 at a surprisingly affordable price. Best of all, you will have an unlimited supply of fresh, clean drinking water without having to worry about replacing pitcher filters or buying bottled water.

2. Whole house water purification is very convenient. You won`t need separate filters in your kitchen, bathroom, and shower. The whole house filter will stay out of sight and out of mind yet provide you with pure water in every part of your home.

3. Whole house water purifiers prevent harmful chemicals from being released into the air thus improve your home`s air quality. Chemicals such as chlorine are respiratory irritants and can cause problems like asthma and bronchitis. They can also aggravate allergies so if you suffer from these problems, a whole house water purifier would do you well.

4. With whole house water purification you will be able to shower with clean water. Bathing in clean water is very important to health. Did you know that bathing in tap water is actually more dangerous than drinking it? When you bathe in tap water, you inhale the chemicals and they are absorbed through your skin since your pores open up.

5. With whole house water purifiers, your household chores will be a lot less rigorous. Your kitchen, bathroom, and dishes will have little to no soap scum if you use a whole house purifier. There also won`t be any chemicals embedded in your clothing when you do the laundry.
