A safe place is not always so safe: Bug sweeping can help

Everybody has heard of the myth that if you stay out in the cold for too long, you will surely catch a cold. This myth is more commonly used during the winter season because temperatures can go below freezing point in some parts of the country. But although this myth has been proven incorrect over the years, it wouldn`t hurt to take the necessary precautions to protect yourself from colds and flus during the cold winter season. Here are some helpful tips to protect yourself from the alleged “winter bugâ€:Dress accordingly. Winter season means snow is coming. But as much as you enjoy having fun playing in the snow, dressing lightly won`t let you have as much fun as you want. Dress warmly – thick jackets, scarves, gloves, bonnets – anything to keep you dry and warm in the cold.Get a flu shot. The influenza virus comes in 3 types – A, B, and C. Types A and B are responsible for flu and its complications, while type C is the one that causes the common cold. Having a flu shot will activate the antibodies that will work against these three virus types.Take your vitamin C. Vitamin C has been noted to have a lot of beneficial effects to the body, like strengthening the blood vessels and protecting cells from damage (flu or cold infections). Taking the daily recommended allowance of vitamin C (60mg/day) can help increase the body`s resistance to developing colds and flu.Regularly wash your hands. Since colds and flu viruses are spread through droplets expelled when an infected person sneezes or coughs, there is a possibility that you may get the virus from anything you touched. Washing your hands regularly lessens your chances of having your food contaminated by something you touched.Although it isn`t necessarily true that playing around in the cold can get you sick, it wouldn`t hurt to take extra care to prevent from being sick. After all, what good is the snow going to be if you`re locked inside the house sick of the flu?

With Bug 53102 in your Linux system, you may find a number of problems got attached to your system:
The system won’t unmount
System freezes sometimes
Frequent Partition corruption
Disk is remounted as read-only
These problems generally occur with Ext3 file system. Moreover, the users also report to lose their data and later find it in /lost+found folder. Running fsck may also be of no avail and the problem may remain with the original effect.
Linux partitions are created to have better control over the data and their corruption as such may not be accepted. The primary reason behind the scene can be file system corruption which is the indicative that whole of your system’s data will get lost. Well, as a cure have a fresh copy of the file system and prevent the further issues.
File system bugs always prove as a threat to the user’s most important assets- data and create a Linux recovery need for them. The main reason is the fact that file system retains the pointers which tell where the data is located on the drive so that it can be accessed. Now, as we reinstall the file system, those entries also get wiped off. Thus the new file system copy is nothing more than the dumb file structure for the existing data.
Now, to recover all those which have got rendered in the hives of hard drive, proper data recovery Linux mechanism is required. Suitable scanning mechanism and safe interaction with the file system will yield you what you want.
Data recovery Linux software has been designed, considering this fact only. These follow the Linux recovery mechanism with great skill, lost data identification power and appropriate coding concepts. Moreover, these have an interactive look to offer so that Linux data recovery job can be performed well, with not such technical skills.
Stellar Phoenix Linux Recovery software is a great invent in data recovery Linux field. The power of scanning, read-only conduct, graphically rich interface and great Linux recovery controls make this program the first choice of users.
This Linux data recovery application identifies each type of file and is also suitable for recovering data from corrupted partitions. You can use the program with Ext2, Ext3 and Reiser FS file systems.

There comes a time, for some of us it`s sooner than later, when the travel bug takes hold of you. Nothing can stop your rising passion to discover new cultures and experiences. You want to see dawn at Angkor Wat, go elephant trekking in Thailand, sip coffee in the cafes of Paris just like Hemingway and Orwell before you. You want it all and more. And why not? With so many cheap air fares, discount tickets and online bargains to be had, few countries are off limits to your travel wanderlust. (Well, apart from those in certain hot spots around the globe.)
Now all this is fine if you are renting a place and can get out of your tenancy or lease. But if you own a house or apartment, you have to say “hang on a minute, there`s a bit of planning to be done.” You can`t just shut the door and zoom off to the airport. There`s some serious stuff to consider….
Who`s going to look after Fluffy and Spot?
If you have a pet, you need to organise someone or a service to care for them. It may be better to ask a friend or family member to move in and become a familiar face to your pet, so it doesn`t fret as much when you go away.
Check your house and contents insurance
Boring yes, but it`s better to know up front if your property is covered when you`re away from home for several weeks. Ask someone to check on your property regularly, or better still, consider a house sitter. Some home insurance policies are not valid if your property is left unoccupied for an extended period of time. Some policies do give coverage for up to 60 days, many are less than this.
Needles and things
Do you need special inoculations for your destination such as cholera or malaria? (Mainly for tropical or jungle travel to remote areas) Sometimes your local doctor doesn`t have the right medicine or tablets on hand – they have to be pre-ordered, so call first and check.
It`s not “bon voyage” for bills
Just because you`re going away doesn`t mean that the bills stop. If you have regular bills for utilities, policies or ongoing charges, organise automatic debits on your savings or cheque accounts. Don`t forget to pay your credit card bill before you leave home and top up the balance with extra funds. You don`t want an embarrassing “declined” card when you`re about to purchase that fantastic dress of your dreams in Italy.
Avoid rate rises. Get a fixed rate home loan.
The last thing you want to hear about when you`re travelling overseas is another interest rate hike on your home loan. Lock in a fixed rate home loan before you leave, or think about switching to one. It gives you some peace of mind, especially if you`re away for a few years.
Landlord insurance cover
If you`re renting out your house or apartment, consider taking out landlord insurance. After all, your home is a significant investment and you want it to stay in good condition. Many policies cover loss of rent and new for old replacement on items. See what works for you.
Internet banking security
You probably don`t give a second thought to banking online at home, but be careful where you do it overseas. If you`re not comfortable doing it in a café off the beaten track, maybe your hotel is a better option. Or wait till you`re in a big city.
Driving on the right or left?
Not everyone drives on the same side of the road. In Asia, driving varies right across the region. For example: in mainland China, the traffic drives on the right-hand side of the road like the USA. But in Hong Kong, Macau, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand — they drive on the left, so beware of the transitions. However, in Asia, the rules are quite different from those in other countries. To foreign drivers the traffic can look chaotic and crazy. Maybe you should just use taxis or hire a local driver and save yourself from road rage.
Now you`re ready to roll. Happy travels.

Nothing can ruin a day in the outdoors like a bug infestation. Well, the military certainly thinks so. That’s why it developed DEET in the 1940s as a mosquito repellent. As is often the case with military technology, there are some positives and negatives associated with this chemical. Let’s take a closer look.
DEET stands for the chemical composition known as N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide. It cam from research conducted by the United States Army as a result of fighting experiences in World War II. Specifically, the army had run into illness and disease problems for soldiers fighting in jungle areas. Unfortunately, DEET was not ready for use until 1946, a year after the war. Since then, however, it has become a staple chemical in many commercially available insect repellents. The question is whether this is a good idea.
At its core, DEET is an acid. One of the two primary ingredients is methylbenzoic acid. The toxicity found in it has resulted in seizures and even deaths for users, but this is a fairly rare occurrence. Much more likely to occur are rashes and irritations. To this end, the EPA has issued a warning that DEET not be used with children under 2 years of age and should always be washed off skin when out of insect zones. It has also been found to cause insomnia, irritability and reduced cognitive function if a person is exposed to it long term.
From a sportsperson perspective, DEET is a real problem. As an acid, it acts like a solvent. This means it attacks certain plastics. These are the various synthetics that are used more and more in your gear. DEET will destroy synthetic clothing, stitching, fishing line, shoes, watch bands and anything that has a synthetic element to it. If you are using such gear, do not use DEET based repellents.
DEET definitely works when it comes to repelling insects. The negatives of this chemical, however, should make you pause. There are a variety of other repellents on the market that work just as well and won’t hurt you or your gear. Next time you are buying repellent, you might want to keep that in mind.

These days it`s almost impossible to walk in some public place without being caught on camera. Markets, small shops, museums or banks, all use surveillance cameras for protection. CCTV surveillance has grown significantly over the last decade and this growth doesn`t seem to stop. However, security cameras for surveillance may not only be used in public places. You might not even expect that, but even in some private areas, like changing rooms, showers or hotel rooms, spy cameras might be waiting to catch you.Such illegal activities are prohibited, but not everybody obeys the rules. There are many people who`ll want to spy on you in private areas without even considering your rights to privacy. In such cases, a spy bug detector can help you protect yourself from being caught on hidden cameras. Why Bug Detectors are Useful?First, let`s try to find out what a bug detector actually is. A bug detector is anti surveillance device that is used to capture various spying gadgets in the area. Bug detectors come in many shapes and sizes and functions. Small bug detectors might be used to track audio bugs in the phones or near the phones. Larger bug trackers, measuring the size of a briefcase, can track spy cameras, audio spy equipment and have much more functions than smaller ones. Of course, such detectors cost more also.Technologically more advanced bug detectors not only allow you to detect any bugs in the room. They can also ?steal? the RF signal and display what the security camera sees. If the CCTV cameras don`t use any signal encoding, then such spy cam bug detectors will easily display you the wireless camera`s view. How a Bug Detector Works?Let`s try to briefly cover how a bug tracking tool works.Wireless devices, like spy cameras or even computer networks, work by sending radio signals from one location to another. Such signals are called RF, which refers to ?Radio Frequency?. Such devices use RF signals to communicate with the receivers. Now a bug detector simply scans the whole room or office for such radio signals and reports to you when it detects anything. One note here. If you`re doing surveillance in your house, then turning off some wireless devices, like cell phones could be a good idea. This is just to help you better track and spot bugs or spy cameras in the room.Frequency RangeUsually, bug detectors operate in 2GHz or 3Ghz frequency range. Now, most spy devices also operate in this range, so there are no problems spotting a bug in that range. However, some (more sophisticated) spies will change the frequency of a bug to a higher level, like 4GHz or 6GHz. Then, a common bug tracking device won`t be able to catch any frequencies, but a more advanced solution will do the job? There are powerful bug detectors for private investigators; or the ones that police use, which can detect RF signals even up to 9GHz. They cost more, but they`ll spot any bug in the room without problems. Can Surveillance Bugs Spot Wired CCTV Cameras? Most bug detectors are able to track almost any wireless spy device that uses RF signals. Be it a wireless mini hidden camera, a phone bug, or a blue tooth spy cam? But, detecting hard-wired cameras was a little problem. It`s simply because they don`t use radio frequency signals to transmit data between the transmitter and a receiver. Now, powerful bug tracking devices can spot even wired CCTV cameras in the area. So the main problem is simply gone with these new-era bug trackers.

Do you know what the Jollibee Philippine is? Well all the Filipinos would perfectly know what the Jollibee Philippine is. When it comes to the best fast-food chains in the block, the Jollibee Philippine is always on the top. Jollibee Philippine, or widely known to Filipinos as simply Jollibee, is a fast-food restaurant chain based in the Philippines. It is an American-style fast-food restaurant with Filipino-influenced dishes specializing in burgers, spaghetti, chicken and some local Filipino dishes.
Since as long as we can remember, the Jollibee Philippine has been there, offering us their delectable choices of yummy yumburgers, crispy chickenjoys, and sweet blended premium spaghettis. But have you ever stopped to think where and when did the Jollibee Philippine ever started?
Jollibee Philippine didn’t start off selling burgers or spaghettis or chicken at first. The chain started by Tony Tan Caktiong first as a Magnolia ice cream parlor down in Cubao, with Jolibe as its name.
But sometime back in 1978, a man named Manuel C. Lumba, a management consultant, offered his services to the Caktiong siblings. Consultant Lumba shifted the business focus from ice cream to hamburgers, after his studies showed that a much larger market was waiting to be exploited.
Long after that, Lumba became Tony Tan`s first business and management mentor. Lumba next re-formed the name Jolibe to Jolly Bee and made the two words form a single name Jollibee, but changed the “y” to an “i”.
The Jollibee mascot was conceptualized by Lumba inspired by local and foreign children`s books. Lumba next created the product name “Yumburger” as well as the name “Chickenjoy”. He had the company incorporated in order to benefit from incorporation and leased a house on Main St. in Cubao, Quezon City as the first headquarters.
And now, the Jollibee Philippine is now the biggest and grandest fast-food chain in the Philippines and in some parts of the globe. As of March, 2008, Jollibee Philippine has 1,464 stores in the Philippines namely, Jollibee having 627 stores, Chowking having 377 stores, Greenwich Pizza having 236 stores, Red Ribbon Bakeshop having 194 stores, Delifrance having 28 stores and Tio Pepe having 2 stores. It also has 191 Jollibee Philippine stores overseas.
Since then, the Jollibee Philippine have grown to what we know now as the largest and the biggest fast-food chain in the world. For more information about the Jollibee Philippine products, then visit the Express Regalo at www.expressregalo.com for more details.
When it comes to servings some of the most delectable and sought-after collections of fast-food menu in the Philippines, the Jollibee Food Corporation always comes out on top. As long as we have remembered, the Jollibee Food Corporation has been there. From the first time we first enjoyed their yummiest Yumburger to the last time we enjoyed the crunchiest texture of their Chickenjoy, the Jollibee Food Corporation has always been there, in or out of the country.
Today, the Jollibee Food Corporation is now the most popular and the biggest fast food chain in the Philippines. Jollibee Food Corporation is currently the biggest fast-food chain in the country; it also has locations in the United States, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Indonesia, Dubai and Brunei.
As of December 2007, Jollibee Food Corporation has become one of the biggest fast-food chains in the world with 1,655 stores worldwide (although it`s own web site, claims only 600) and total sales of more than US$1 billion. As of March, 2008, Jollibee Food Corporation has 1,464 stores in the Philippines namely, Jollibee having 627 branches , Chowking having 377 branches, Greenwich Pizza having 236 branching, Red Ribbon Bakeshop having 194 branches, Délifrance having 28 brances and Tio Pepe having 2 branches. It also had 191 stores overseas.
But the Jollibee Food Corporation didn’t start-off like that in the beginning. It all started as an ordinary ice cream parlor serving ordinary ice creams for their customers. This was what Jollibee started until Manuel C. Lumba came into the picture. It was he who instructed Tony Tan Caktiong of converting their business to selling hamburgers instead of ice creams; this is after his studies that there are so much potential that can be found in hamburgers.
This was the start of what is now the biggest fast food chain not only in the Philippines, but all over the world, the Jollibee Food Corporation.

How to Squish Creativity Like a Bug
By: Richard M. Highsmith, M.S.
The Leader`s Institute
Most Senior Managers will acknowledge the importance of having the
support, loyalty and ideas of their subordinates. A company of any
size cannot sustain growth on the back of one person. Without a team
effort the entrepreneurial spark can be extinguished in the rainstorm
of turmoil created by success.
Desirable employees want positions that satisfy an interest or
because they are excited about where a company is going. They want to
be a part of the accomplishment. The enthusiasm they bring to the
table is vital to the creativity that sustains growth. Merle Crowell
stated this eloquently; “It`s the men behind who `make` the man ahead.”
So how does a manager on this walk through the corporate jungle end
up squishing creativity like a bug? The fundamental building blocks
to success are easily stifled. Here are some suggestions on how you
can smother any chance of being a successful manager.
First – Fail to acknowledge the importance of other people. Take
credit for all creative thinking and problem solving. “Protect” your
subordinates from the scrutiny of top management by never conceding
the part they played in your latest accomplishment. Deceive yourself
in to believing that they take pride in serving you and that your
light is enough to keep them tanned.
Second – Do not ask other people`s opinions. After all who knows
more about running your department than you? That`s right. How could
someone toiling in the trenches with no Big Picture mentality possibly
grasp situations and problems as well as you? Believe that you alone
have the candlepower to illuminate the dark crevices that big problems
create.
Third – Give your opinion first, forcefully and often. It is
imperative for your subordinates to know where you stand. Won`t they
be like sailors at sea without a compass if you don`t give them
direction? Naturally they will turn to you for guidance. Why wait?
Give them the answers before they ask the questions. Remember, no one
knows more about the operation than you.
If any of the behaviors in the last three paragraphs seem a tad
similar to your own management style, then you may be guilty of
squishing the bug. People need…not just want, but need…approval.
This is a fundamental principle of human behavior. To maximize our
potential, we all need recognition. George Houston clearly summarized
what happens when a manager fails to encourage subordinates when he
said, “Anything that interferes with individual progress ultimately
will retard group progress.”
The primary role of a Senior Manager should be the development of
those who report to him. It is through their growth that the company
will prosper. Now that we`ve identified how to manage people poorly,
let`s look at how to get the most out of all your employees.
First – Acknowledge the importance of people. William James, the
Father of modern psychology said, “The deepest principle in human
nature is the craving to be appreciated.” Repeated surveys have shown
that employees leave companies most often not because of salary but
because of lack of recognition. The effective manager gives credit to
whom it`s due. Try catching people performing well. Praise
noteworthy behavior. Smile more. You don`t need to carry pom poms
and become a cheerleader. But you must take responsibility for the
morale of your department.
Second – Ask other people`s opinions. I once owned a medium sized
manufacturing company that supplied the hospitality industry. We were
having some serious issues in our shipping department that nobody
seemed to be able to solve. I presented the problem in an open
meeting and a nineteen year old kid who had been working for me about
three weeks came up with a solution that was elegant in it`s
simplicity. We were in the forest, he saw the tree! Tap the
creativity and differing perspectives of all your employees. Take
every opportunity to ask and then listen. The benefit is incalculable.
Third – Foster creativity by allowing open discussion of any and all
possible solutions. At the Leader`s Institute we call this
Green-Light thinking. It is the quantity not quality of ideas that is
emphasized. There are no wrong answers in this process. Your role is
to encourage the free wheeling generation of ideas. If you defer
judgment, people will hitchhike a solution on another idea that had
little merit. In this atmosphere the magic of creativity flourishes.
When the process plays itself out (no more than 10 minutes), then have
the group begin to winnow the possible solutions down. Again it is
important for you to allow the group to make the judgments. You might
prompt thought by asking questions. For example, “What effect could
this solution have on other departments?” or “How much might that
cost?” When the group has selected the most effective solution then
work on specific steps toward implementation.
In closing, I`d like to quote Dr. Marcus Bach, “Success, or failure,
very often arrives on wings that seem mysterious to us.” It is up to
every manager to serve as the conduit rather than the short circuit of
creativity.

I was listening to a speaker some time ago talking about a trying time in his life.
If you can relate to bills piling up, collection calls, struggling to make things happen and only disappointment was occurring.
He went on to relate an incident where the sheriff came to the door with papers to collect a debt. With no money the sheriff went away empty handed.
The speaker went on to describe his feeling of dread and failure over the incident, and then something occurred to him that changed his view, his thinking and his future!
That something put him in a different frame of mind and provided a different view of his situation. I wonder if this might not work for you….
You see he had always looked at his situation as solely his problem. It was being driven by how he thought others would perceive and think of him. This created a very negative picture of himself and always seemed out of his control!
So what did he do that changed his view?
He continued his talk saying; “I began to realize that the sheriff had the problem! He had the job of trying to collect something that did not exist! Namely my money!â€
With this different view the speaker indicated his view and perception of his situation changed dramatically! He then indicates his realization that the real problem was who was being allowed to control and direct him.
It was not him!
His core issue was not a lack of funds or bill collectors; it was what he was allowing these issues to do with his thinking. They were causing the worry, the stress and the negativity while he allowed it!
Yes he was concerned about his reputation, his credit and how business partners would view his situation, yet he realized that they were not going to change it for him. He had to find a way to change his thinking, his perception and attitude.
By viewing the situations differently, (i.e. It’s the sheriffs problem not his) he found his mind free to problem solve and focus on the real issues he could control to change his situation.
He then explained that with this new view and attitude his focus changed, it seemed a great weight was lifted. Because of this he created a new strategy and within six months was out of debt and into a six figure income!
I am sure many of you will question if not fully disagree with the idea “It’s the sheriffs problem.†I reacted as well. But the point here is this…..
When we are under pressure, stress and worry our mind and creativity are shut off. We can expend a great deal of energy yet get nowhere.
The point is we need a strategy that helps us see the situation differently so our mind and creativity can work!
Albert Einstein would regularly take a very different if not completely off track approach to a problem. With this new and very different view there often came a new revelation and new solution! I wonder if that had anything to do with his well known place in history.
In his book “How to Stop Worrying and Start Living†Dale Carnegie gave many principles on how to deal with worry and stress. All of them caused you to view the situation differently.
So you have issues at work, at home and in your personal life. You find your stress level way up, your energy down and the attitude in the toilet.
Stop and do this: (on paper would be recommended)
Determine exactly what it is you are worried about?
What is the outcome you are concerned about?
Is this caused by you or by what other sources want or expect?
What is in your control? Not in your control?
How can you “reframe†the situation to create a different view?
With this new view create a new strategy and get to work!
I have used this approach many times over the years and it works!
More than once a business venture or personally the cash flow was getting bloody! As long as I focused on the cash flow issue there were only more problems. Once I changed my view, solutions were found and the crisis was over very quickly! I also found myself sleeping again!
In my coaching work it is amazing how often clients “problems†were really their concern over how others were going to view or think of them! Once we sorted this out and looked at the situation through new eyes, solutions became very obvious!
If it works for others, why not you??
