Wii code, Wii ID, Wii Friend code, Wii Wi-Fi code … what are those and where do you get them?

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Each Wii system has a 16 digit code, for the system itself. The wii console code is used to send messages to your friends.

Each game that uses the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection generates a unique 12 digit friend code that can be exchanged with friends and be used to maintain individual friend lists in each game. It is kind of annoying to have to do each time you get a new game, but once your registered and you registered your friends, you`re in the clear.

So, don`t get confused. The Wii console and Wii online games have different codes. The Wii codes you need to know are the Wii console code and the Wii friend code. When you are asked for a Wii code, it is usually one of these two.

You use your Wii`s code when sending messages to friends via the message board under the Wii menu, and you use the individual code on each game for Wi-Fi playing. Accessing your friend code is different for each of your games. Only some games are WiFi playable, so check the back of the box if you`re unsure.

How do you know what your friend code is for the wii?

I`ll walk you there with my wii.

First, go to the place with all the channels (Wii menu)
Second, on the lower right hand corner you will see an
envelope (wii message board) click on it.
Third, on your lower left hand corner, right next to calender, you will see an icon of a piece of paper with a black pen over it (create messages) click on it.
Fourth, click on the third choice to the right (Address book), and then click on it. Your friend code will be there. It will say
“This console`s Wii Number”
Your code looks like this: 1234 – 5678 – 9012 – 3456

Your Friend Code is for online for your friends. So if you just want a random person as your friend for Online only, give them ur FC. If you want to add friend codes, click register
(also in address book) and then type in your friend`s friend code.

Many games have additional features that are enabled between two registered friends. These may include customized matchmaking options, cooperative play, friend lists, text chat, and voice chat.

If a user needs to replace his or her DS system, then the old system`s Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection ID can be transferred wirelessly, to maintain the user`s original Friend codes on the new machine.

How to fix DVD/CD-ROM drives (Code 39 error) in Windows XP or Vista

Friday, January 16th, 2009

DVD/CD-ROM drives (Code 39 error)
At present, the player’s devices are CD-ROM, DVD-ROM. The faults are caused by hardware and software kinds. Considering the mechanical is too difficult to the inexperienced, so we here just focus on software dealing with drives’ error (Code 39 error).

After loading the Windows, the DVD/CD-ROM drives work properly, but we can not see the drives in “My Computer” (System can not recognize the drives.). When try to run the drives, it shows up a notice “Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code39).” Before solving this error, check the drives connection correctly, then follow the steps below:
Delete Device Manager. Most people will firstly think of Windows “Find New Hardware” when drives missed, but it does not always work out. To fix the problem: open “My Computer”→ “Control Panel” →“System”→“Device Manager”→ “HDC(Hard Disk Controller) ”, then click “Delete”. Follow the note to reboot computer. After rebooting, the computer will find the Primary IDE Controller and Secondary IDE Controller again and install the drivers. Restart the computer again while the installation is completed. In this, we can get back our CD/DVD-ROM Drives.

The other way is by editing the registry to return the missed CD/DVD-ROM drives (Code 39 error.). Obviously, it is too risky to edit the registry if you are not familiar with it. To fix the error from the registry, carry out the following steps:
Exit and close all applications currently running on your PC.
Step1. Click Start > Run and type in Regedit, press Enter.
Step2. Look for the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Delete any of the following registry entries under this key directory:
LowerFilters
LowerFilters.bak
UpperFilters
UpperFilters.bak
Step3. Reboot your PC and open My Computer to check that the CD-ROM drive is visible.
Also, have a look at the Device Manager to see if the yellow exclamation mark and the error code 39 are gone.

System errors are not welcome guests that bring up unhappy computing experience. Registry Easy (www.registryeasy.com) is a professional troubleshooting system maintenance tool that can help you to solve this error and many more.

Should Each Page on a Website Have Targeted Keywords in its Source Code?

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Placing keywords strategically throughout your site is essential to getting more traffic from the search engines? Well, that is the belief of most webmasters. But it is true to some degree. Actually, I don’t have any keyword tags in a lot of my pages. I don’t need to. The reason is because it’s more important for me to get links with keywords pointing to my pages than it is to worry about having keywords listed on all my pages.
After you have links coming in to your site, the next thing that’s really important is having H1 and H2 tags. The H1 and H2 tags should have keywords in them.
The next thing you should worry about is your title tags. These are actually something else that’s even more important than your keyword tags. Title tags are the number one most important thing on your site because the search engines pick these up and are looking for essential keywords. So, if you’re going to play around with source code, one of the most important things you want to play around with is your title tags. You can put keywords, no more than 83 characters in your title tag and this is going to help get you high up into the search engine rankings.
Really, everything you do involving keywords on your site is just 2% of the big picture. You could really crush your competition just by having the 98% – which is links coming into your site. I really want to stress that for everybody that’s reading this.
The first thing that I do when I optimize my site is create an opt-in box for people to enter their name and email. Then I usually run Google AdWords to my opt-in page by looking at what keywords are giving me my best click-through rate. That’s the first information that I can gather. So typically, I optimize my sites for the click-through rate.
Once I do this, people will usually start subscribing. Then, I look at what keywords people are opting into my page with, and then I start optimizing my sites for those keywords that as well. Typically, after they opt-in, I’m having them land on a page where they can buy and, guess what? The next thing I’m doing is I’m optimizing my sites for buyers.
My best opt-ins were from the people I found to be my best buyers. They were from those where the keywords that I optimized my sites for. However, I don’t get that information first; I usually get that information last because that’s kind of the way that it works. You’ve got click-through rate first, then opt-ins, then buyers. I even optimize my articles with those same words. So that’s the way that I would do it.
If you want to also try using my strategy, you might want to go look in your Google AdWords campaign for your AW stats and find out what people are searching for and finding you from. If you go into your control panel and look at your stats, it’s going to help you when making these kind of decisions and show you what keywords you should focus on.

The Evolution of Source Code Analysis

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Automated source code analysis (SCA) technology is designed to locate and describe areas of weakness in software source code. Those weaknesses may be security vulnerabilities, logic errors, implementation defects, concurrency violations, rare boundary conditions, or any number of other types of problem-causing code. Source code analysis is distinct from more traditional dynamic analysis techniques, such as unit or penetration tests, since the work is performed at build time using only the source code of the program or module in question. The results reported are therefore generated from a complete view of every possible execution path, rather than some aspect of a necessarily limited observed runtime behavior.

The underlying technology associated with SCA is called Static Analysis and the current generation of technology solutions is capable of providing sophisticated, high-value analysis that will identify critical bugs and security vulnerabilities in code that can potentially cause system crashes, hacker exploits or affect the overall reliability of mission-critical software. As a result of recent innovations in this domain, organizations that develop mission-critical software are adopting SCA technology as a standard milestone of their integration build during pre-quality assurance (QA) activities. This has proven to be a useful stage at which to perform static analysis and has provided benefit in terms of accuracy and comprehension. However, build-time analysis suffers from an inherent weakness: code has already been committed to a source branch, so by the time a bug is discovered it is already impacting other members of the development organization and other elements of the system.

Professional software development organizations are now looking to better integrate static analysis technology into their software development processes and to implement this capability as early as possible in the software development process rather than strictly as a build milestone activity. Reduced costs, better QA efficiency, and significantly improved software products are all benefits to organizations that are able to move high-quality source code analysis and software quality tool to the earliest point in the coding phase: the developer’s desktop.

This paper examines the evolution of source code analysis from developer desktop to integration/build and beyond, and describes how Klocwork Insight uses revolutionary new technology to be the first to take the next step in that evolution.

First Generation Source Code Analysis: A Developer’s Tool
The technology behind source code analysis – static analysis – c static analysis – has been around almost as long as modern software development practices. Fundamentally, the technology is a derivative of the compilation process, and for almost 30 years tools such as lint have been available to developers to run against their code.

Second Generation Source Code Analysis: The Comeback Kid
Realizing the limits of the first generation of source code analysis technology, a new generation of tools emerged in the early 2000s. These tools extended the analysis beyond syntactical and semantic analyses to include sophisticated inter-procedural control- and data-flow analysis and new approaches for pruning false paths, estimating the values that variables will assume, and simulating potential runtime behavior.

Third Generation Source Code Analysis: Klocwork Insight
Klocwork Insight is the first source code analysis product that allows developers to take control of the analysis process while also benefiting from the accuracy and value of centralized analysis – with none of the downstream auditing that second-generation techniques required.

About Klocwork Klocwork is an enterprise software company providing automated source code analysis products that automate security vulnerability and quality risk assessment, remediation and measurement for C, C++ and Java software. More than 200 organizations have integrated Klocwork`s automated source code analysis tools into their development process, thereby:

• Reducing risk by assuring their code is free of mission-critical flaws
• Reducing cost by catching issues early in the development cycle
• Freeing developers to focus on what they do best – innovate

Gwyn Fisher is the CTO of Klocwork, leading developer of automated source code inspection and expert in FDA software validation. With Klocwork, he is responsible for guiding the company’s technical direction and strategy. With nearly 20 years of global technology experience, Gwyn brings a valuable combination of vision, experience, and direct insight into the developer perspective.

Copywriting Secrets Behind The Da Vinci Code and LOST

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

I spent a few hours over the weekend watching the TV series, LOST. And man oh man… do I love the script writing on that show.

Why?

Because it has me constantly wanting to know what`s coming next. It goes from scene to scene… leaving you on `cliff-hanger` after `cliff-hanger.`

It`s similar, really… to the way Dan Brown, the author of Da Vinci code and 3 other best sellers (Deception Point, Angels and Demons and Digital Fortress) writes.

He goes from chapter to chapter. At the end of chapter 3… he`ll leave you wanting to know what`s going to happen next. Then he`ll `shift gears` and move onto another aspect of the story in chapter 4. At the end of chapter 4… you`re not only interested in what`s happening next for chapter 3, but you`re also interested in what`s next in chapter 4. In short, he`s got you on the line – you`re caught – hook, line and sinker!

So how can you use this little secret when writing ads and sales letters?

Here`s an example:

Top business people know it`s not enough to be exceptionally good at what they do. They know they must also get their name in front of their customers. Let`s be honest. What good is it to have the best `mousetrap` if nobody ever hears about it?

But don`t worry. There is now a new way for a business person to get exposure to their clients… for pennies on the dollar. And… you`ll learn about it in a few minutes. But first… here is something else you should be aware of…

Notice how the little piece of copy above made a HUGE promise… and then moves onto another subject… leaving you holding on… reading every word of the letter… waiting anxiously to learn the secret `in a few minutes.

Here`s another example:

It`s a strange situation, isn`t it? There are people all over the country who want the exact product you`re trying to sell… and… there`s no cost effective way of getting your message across to them.

There is now a solution to this problem. But first… let`s talk about what you, as a business person, should never even think about doing…

You`ll notice here that we`ve promised a solution to their problem. And then digressed to another thing we want to talk about within the sales letter.

Interesting stuff, isn`t it? It`s simple psychology. Try telling your husband, wife or partner that you have a secret… but you`ll have to wait until the end of the week before you let them in on it.

Odds are they`ll be desperate to know… and curious about what they`re about to discover.

All for now.

Can`t Write Articles For Links? Write code!

Friday, December 19th, 2008

I`ll use my own little website as an example (I freely admit that I am neither a web designer nor a programmer). My wife and I own By Request DJ & Karaoke Company. Obviously, we specialize in weddings dances, school dances, company parties, and karaoke. We recently went through the process of converting all our CDs to compressed digital audio files which are played from a computer rather than hauling around thousands of CDs. In the process of ripping and encoding our music, I found many tasks were very repetitive and time consuming. Since I know a smattering of Visual Basic, it was simple to write a utility to automate these tasks. I figured that if it was helpful to me, some other DJ might find it helpful to, so I called my utility MP3G to ZIP and made it available for download from my website. I also decided to submit it to a few freeware sites just so it was easier to find.

Is Someone Stealing Your Source Code?

Is Someone Stealing Your Source Code?
by Michael Southon

That`s a question that worries many people on the Internet.
And some people go to great lengths to hide their source
code.

There are several reasons you might want to conceal the
source code of your web pages:

=> you have web pages that rank highly in the search
engines and you don`t want people to see your meta tags

=> you don`t want people copying your web page design
or java scripts

=> you want to protect your website from email harvesters
and other spam utilities

But can you hide your source code?

The short answer is no – to display a web page, the browser
has to be able to read the source, and if the browser can read
it, so can your visitors.

But there are ways to make it more difficult for your visitors to
read your source code. Here are some of them:

(1) Adding dozens of carriage returns at the top of your
HTML page

This one has fooled me a couple of times. All you see is a
lot of blank space – but just keep scrolling down and you`ll find
the source code.

(2) Using frames

When you try to view the source code of a page using this
technique, all you see is the first ten or fifteen lines of HTML.
But just save the page to a folder on your hard disk and then
look for a sub-folder where the images in that page were
saved to.

In the sub-folder you`ll find an HTML file that contains the source
code you were looking for. Again, this won`t fool experienced
users, but it`s worth a shot. Here is the code:
http://www.ezine-writer.com/framescode.html

(3) Disabling Right Click

This is an old trick and experienced surfers know how to get
around it. Here it is anyway – a script that disables Right Click:
http://www.ezine-writer.com/rightclick.html

(4) Disabling View Source

I searched high and low for a script that disables `View Source`
in the browser menu bar, and couldn`t find one.

Here is a script that is supposed to disable `View Source` – I tried
it out in my browser (IE 6.0) and it didn`t work, so perhaps it only
works in older versions of IE:
http://www.ezine-writer.com/no-source-code.html

(5) Encryption plus frames

This is a technique that will work on all but the most
experienced web surfers. Here is the code for doing it:
http://www.ezine-writer.com/hidesource.html

I`ve created a copy of my index page using the above
technique – if you click on View Source, all you see is a jumble
of characters: http://www.ezine-writer.com/encrypted.htm

Well, that`s it! All you need to know about hiding your source code.

A practical use of Open Source Code Softwares

Monday, December 15th, 2008

As we started the project of our web site, we knew that the proprietary software costs would be too high for our financial resources. Our only option then was to make use of Open Source Code softwares.

However, within the Open Source Code there are lots of softwares to choose from, and it´s up to the system analyst/programmer to pick the ones that best suit the project goals.

In our case, we picked Linux as our operating system. However we faced a big question: Which Linux distribution ? There are dozens of linux distributions, each one with specific advantages, sometimes with or without paid services.

We chose linux Slackware because we thought that it would suit better our needs, in terms of stability and reliability. Slackware is a conservative distribution, meaning that it only offers in its distribution package kernel versions and third party libraries, once it´s been proved to be stable and reliable. As a result, Slackware is one the most stable Linux operating system on the market. If the user wishes the most recent Linux kernel and libraries, we recommend to look for a different distribution.

Another reason for us picking Slackware, was because of its text interface, which at the beginning may become a bit difficult, in the long run however it offers a better understanding of the Linux environment. This way most of Slackware configurations are done thru text scripts.

Once it was set the operating system, we picked Apache as our web server. Apache is one of the most popular web server in the internet. For server programming language, we chose PHP. Also, a very popular programming language. Our experience with Apache/PHP proves that this setup is very reliable, working extremely well in our production environment. For workstation programming language, we chose javascript, which besides of having a simple syntax, it offers lots of resources.

Apache web server is really a complete web server. Also, it can become very complex with many configuration setups.

For our database, we picked Postgresql. This database has been made available to the public for more than 15 years, and besides of being well debugged, it offers so many resources that it has become one of the best database options from Open Source Code softwares. Extremely reliable, Postgresql has reported cases where there have been databases in production with over 4 terabytes. Besides all of that, Postresql is not the most popular Open Source Code database. A matter of marketing ? Probably.

As for the programming language PHP, we had to use an object oriented application structure. There are many PHP application structures being offered with Open Source Code license. Object oriented application is very important, because it makes programming very easy and scalable up to the point where the system may grow without many problems. Also, it helps to keep PHP code separated from HTML, with the help of some specific libraries, such as Smarty. We make use of Smarty library and we believe that it is a very important resource, which can even make web pages faster thru the use of its cache functions.

Also a very important set of libraries worth mentioning for PHP systems, is the PEAR libraries. In PEAR web site, among the many libraries being offered, there are the database interface DB and the MAIL_QUEUE, which sends emails thru the use of database.

As we came to the end of our project, we had to use some sort of real time database replication. For that we chose the DRBD and Heartbeat libraries. The use of database replication is very important and should not be postponed. Just after 3 months our system got into production, our server hard disk became bad. Thru the use of DRBD/Heartbeat we were able to put the system back into production within seconds, without loosing any data. DRBD/Heartbeat replication is done thru the use of a lan network between the server and slave nodes.

Our project also makes use of ImageMagick (enlarge and reduce images), Iptables (firewall), Tsearch2(text search in portgresql) and Mon (linux monitoring tasks).

Also a very important library worth mentioning is the pseudo APC compiler for PHP. Speed is always a critical factor for internet sites.

Our web site is already in production and based upon our experience we can say that the Open Source Code softwares we picked, proved to be extremely reliable and stable. Open Source Code softwares can certainly be an excellent option for developing web sites.

The Importance of Code Choice When Designing a Website.

Monday, December 15th, 2008

There are several types of programming languages to consider when building a website. The simplest form and the easiest for search engines to read is HTML.

Many websites, especially ecommerce websites or websites with functions like member logins, search, newsletters etc will be built using ASP or PHP, which connect to a database. These sites are called dynamic sites; that is, they are continually changing.

These more advanced codes, allow designers to build and make changes faster; they increase the security of the website; they give you, the store owner, a back office system to manage your own store; and they also improve site loading time and allow us to do much more in terms of features, however these codes can cause problems for search engines.

Sometimes it is feasible to change a dynamic site to a HTML based one, retaining the design and features but usually it’s not possible so we need to overcome the obstacles presented by these types of sites, to aid the SEO process.

You can improve the SEO ability of dynamic sites by doing several things such as incorporating an Apache Mod Rewrite Rule. Dynamic sites that are pulling their information from a database will use strings such as: www.yourdomain.com/index.php?option=Prod_detail&product_id=293714&image_id=149771 – the problem here is that the search engine stumble when they come a cross question mark and this may cause the page not to be ranked by the search engine.

The Apache Mod Rewrite Rule changes the URL to something like www.yourdomain.com/manchester_florists/wedding_flowers.html. Not only is this massively better for the engines but it also makes it easier for users to read. You can also identify any pages that will not change often, such as the “about us” page and convert it to html. For situations like this it differs greatly from site to because of the different factors involved.

I found an excellent ecommerce development company that I found to be very helpful they can even help you with a web redesign

Other methods of web design include flash, which is basically a video. The search engines are unable to understand any of the content of flash (apart from some alt tags) so it’s extremely difficult to optimise websites built fully of Flash. The thing to remember about Flash is that it should be used sparingly and when needed; don`t just uses it because you can.
