The sea is ingrained in Australian history, so taking the family to Darling Harbour is a great way to start a day’s excursion with the family. That’s because you will find the Australian National Maritime Museum. The Museum is a must-see with its Aboriginal vessels and hand’s on exhibitions. There are even ships docked in the nearby harbour including a submarine. History comes to life when the kids can visit the replica of the ship operated by the founder of Australia – Captain James Cook.

Another fascinating museum the whole family will enjoy is the Powerhouse Museum. This is a true hands-on museum full of exhibits ranging from science and transportation to art and human contributions to society.

When your family is ready for something different to do, the Sydney Aquarium beckons. The aquarium is considered to be world class and has a number of underwater walkways. You can walk through two large tanks and watch sea life such as seals and sharks swimming up close. There is also a magnificent Great Barrier Reef exhibit.

Speaking of fish, your children will enjoy a visit to the Sydney Fish Market. Over 65 tons of fish are processed through the market every day. It’s a true fish market full of activity and exciting action as vendors and visitors intermingle. You can eat all the fresh fish you want at the nearby seafood restaurants.

International Flavour

After visiting aquariums and museums, you might be interested in a change of scenery. The Sydney Chinatown is a colourful and exciting area with oriental architecture and plenty of Asian cooking. The family will experience the sights and sounds of Chinese culture. Chinatown is a short walk from a Monorail station or you can board the Light Rail system.

When walking around the harbour area, you’ll discover there is always some form of entertainment going on. The children will enjoy the musicians and artists while mom and dad stroll through the many shops. The family can even get back on the Monorail and ride to the shopping district with its 120 retail stores.

Getting from place to place is easy on the Monorail, which means you can enjoy a great family day out on the Monorail.

Call Day And Night With PC Phone

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

The arrival of internet has completely changed the way people communicate with one another. Once, owning a telephone was a very big thing but now people do not even think of buying telephones or mobile phones. There is one thing that matters to all. It is none other than huge telephone bills. This is the age of globalisation and people have to move from one place to another. There are times when a husband and wife does not stay with each other due to professional reasons. How do these people maintain their relationship? These people must be taking the help of mobile phones and would also have been paying huge telephone bills.

Internet and personal computers can be very helpful in reducing international call rates and to make PC to mobile phone calls via PC phone calling. That is why, PC Phones are in huge sales. People can buy these phones and by taking the VoIP call facility, they can save a lot on their phone bills. There are many opportunities around which people need to look and make use of them. Ads on VoIP calls are quite available through out the World Wide Web and they need to read all of these. They would definitely find the best VoIP call offers which can help them in getting access to reduced call rates.

Some people think connecting VoIP equipments to personal computers is very complex when it comes to PC to phone calls. It is not so. If people do not know how to connect these equipments, then they can take the help from service providers. When the whole setting is all done, then people can start communicating with any other people in any parts of the world.

Most of the people like to speak with the help of VoIP calls. With PC Phones, people can speak as well as see the other person. Isn`t that exciting? This is really exciting as people get to see the other person while they speak. On the other hand, with mobile phones or landlines phones, this facility can never be found.

People should always buy PC Phones from online shopping sites which especially deal in advance telecommunication products. Apart from these shopping sites, they can get these from the service providers. There are many service providers which even let people get these phones free of cost.

Most of the companies dealing in VoIP call services entice customers by their attractive PC phone offers. People should try their best to get such offers at the initial announcements as these are always limited. These companies also let people enjoy free midnight calls. Such features on PC Phone calls can save lots of their money.

These internet phones allow people to make multiple calls. Sometimes, it happens that one receives two or three important calls at a time. With these phones, people need not to bother about missing any important calls.

Some telecom companies provide poor PC Phones, when people apply for VoIP subscriptions. One should check out the kind of internet phones given to them at the very beginning. Otherwise, one would have to face a lot of problems while making important calls.

Enjoy unlimited talk time. Make PC to phone calls through cheapest international calling plans.

Audio Books Save the Day

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

If you thought that audio books are only good for learning a foreign language or as a substitute bedtime story teller, think again. True, they are useful when you want to keep a toddler quiet. They are irreplaceable when you are struggling to learn a new language.

Some people may think that the list of the uses of audio books stops there. However, there are more ways that audio books can come in useful. They can be an excellent media for conveying works of fiction too.

One good reason to pop an audio book disc into a CD player is the pleasure of sharing your favourite play or another literary work with your family and friends. As we learn from Jane Austen`s novels, people used to entertain themselves by reading out loud to one another before TV was around. Today, reading aloud is confined to the bed time story tradition that stops as soon as the kids learn all the letters of the alphabet.

Radio probably abolished the reading gatherings, but it provided a good substitute in the form of radio dramas. With listeners presumably relieved to have professional actors read the text, families went on to pass many a cosy evening huddled around the radio receiver. Except on one occasion, when the listeners reacted with panic to Orson Welles`s adaptation of “The War of the Worlds” and rushed out of their cosy homes, convinced that Earth was under a Martian attack.

We of course know better today. We have no need to strain our imagination. We get it all ready-made – the sound, the pictures and the special effects – from the scores of TV channels and from DVDs. We would probably even find it somewhat embarrassing to be discovered just…listening.

Be that as it may, a friend of mine recently became an audio book convert.

Holiday-bound, the family was to spend several hours in the confined space of their car. The father of the family was at the wheel; my friend was in the front passenger seat, and their twin teenage sons in the back. And as is usual for my friend`s family on all lengthy trips, the twins were separated by a pile of suitcases strategically arranged between them. In spite of that, the first hour of the drive was regularly punctuated by thumps, whacks, screams, wails and loud accusations from the back seat. My friend was constantly turning around in vain attempts to broker a peace deal, worriedly observing the throbbing vein on her husband`s forehead. Desperate for any distraction, she opened the glove department and rummaged through the pile of CDs. An unfamiliar cover caught her attention. It was an audio book someone had given her ages ago. She put it into the CD player – and after the second sentence the noise from the back subsided.

For that particular family, there never was a more peaceful trip. Absorbed in an Agatha Christie audio book murder mystery featuring the brilliant detective Hercule Poirot, the twins forgot to fight. They even urged the parents to make the stops shorter, while on similar earlier expeditions they had to be coaxed, chased or bribed back into the car.

It is no wonder that audio books are now a necessary requisite on any trips my friend makes with her family. She has learned what many of us have forgotten: never to underestimate the power of words and the ability of purely aural sensations to command attention and fire the imagination.

In that name, give your imagination a treat. Get yourself an audio book – it may come in handy for that long trip during this Christmas holiday season.

Strategies OF Ebay Auction Starting And Ending Day

Strategies OF Ebay Auction Starting And Ending Day

It’s usually when auctions are about to end that they get half their bids – sometimes they even get their only bids. If you want your item to sell for a good price, then, it makes no sense to let it finish on a day and time when no-one’s going to be around to care.

Selling to Business.

If you’re selling business equipment and have mostly business customers, you should really aim to have your auctions finishing between 9am and 5pm on weekdays. It is worth, however, trying to avoid mornings and avoiding the ‘lead-in’ and ‘lead-out’ that takes place on Monday and Friday themselves.

Selling to Home.

If most of your sales are to private customers having it shipped to their own home, then you want your auctions to finish when these kinds of customers will be around. For more details visit to www.auction-entrepreneur-kit.com .Unfortunately, these times are the opposite of what they are for the business customers. The ideal time to catch a home customer is on a Sunday evening.

You could draw up a little timetable of when you should and shouldn’t be listing depending on the days of the week – make it red, amber and green, traffic light style, and stick it on your wall.

Schedule Listings.

Of course, if that all sounds like too much trouble then there is an easier – if more expensive – way of doing things. Simply use any of the many tools that let you schedule listings (almost all listing programs and sites do) – you can set the start date for any day and time you feel like.

Be aware that you might have to pay a few cents per listing for this if you do it through eBay. With some software, you may also need to leave your computer on all the time, so the software can start the auctions when it’s supposed to. The advantage of this method, however, is that there will be no per-listing fee, since the auctions were scheduled through your computer and not through eBay.

If it’s the home market you’re after, then you might not have realised what one of the most powerful things to sell on eBay is. I’ll give you a clue: it’s not consumer electronics, or media products. It’s what eBay is famous for. Check out the next email for more.

Tips for Selling Collectibles on eBay.

Yes, collectibles! Collectibles are where eBay started, and they’re still one of its biggest areas – however much they might want you to believe they’re not. eBay`s most hardcore and long-time users are almost all collectors of something or other – it is quite common to post what you think is a mundane item, only to have collectors suddenly go to war over it because it is somehow linked to something they collect.

Collectors are the people on eBay who really do pay top-dollar for things that seem like junk to you and him – not to mention to the people you’ll be getting your stock from! That’s why you can make so much profit on collectibles. Here are a few tips.

Go to people’s homes. People’s homes are full of things that someone out there collects – they are the best and cheapest source of collectibles out there. Sure, you might find something if you hang around at enough garage sales, but you’d have competition. Getting invited to people’s homes to look around should be a dream for you, and one you’re doing your best to make a reality.

Buy on other auction sites. You’ll be surprised how much money you can make if you buy the collectibles that people sell on smaller auction sites like Yahoo Auctions, and then list it on eBay. For more details go to www.mining-auction-gold.com .These sellers will often be perfectly knowledgeable about their item, but simply getting a lower price because they serve a smaller marketplace. Sometimes you can almost double your money.

List every tiny, tiny detail. Remember that collectors really care about the most seemingly insignificant things. An item from one year can be worth thousands while the one from the year before is near-worthless, or an item that is one shade of a colour can be worth far more than one of a subtly different shade. It’s not worth puzzling over and it’s not worth trying to pass your items off as something they’re not – just make sure you put absolutely everything you know in the description.

When you are listing items that require close research and description down to the tiniest detail, however, don’t be tempted to steal someone else’s work! Whatever you do, don’t take another seller’s description and try to pass it off as your own, as this could have all sorts of consequences for you. Our next email gives you a guide to eBay’s policy on description theft.

Do You Really Need Eight Glasses of Water a Day?

Monday, December 29th, 2008

All those interested in their health have heard about drinking 8 glasses of water per day to flush out toxins and remain well hydrated. But if you are one of those people who feel like an overloaded sponge when following this agenda you`ll be pleased to hear that many doctors believe it`s a lot of baloney. In fact, no one can even find out who gave this advice in the first place, or why.

Scientific data tells us that a person can get up to four glasses of water just from the food he eats. Furthermore, drinking caffeinated beverages does not prompt the body to lose water in a person who is used to drinking plenty of coffee and tea, because their body becomes used to it. It is only those people who don`t normally drink much caffeine who are affected, and then much less than some would have us believe. In fact, they only lose one third of what they drink.

Doctors tell us that the average person living in a temperate climate normally only needs a litre of fluid per day, including that from foods. Of course there are times when the weather is hotter and/or the person is doing hard work that makes him/her sweat. In these cases more fluids would be needed, but thirst is the indicator. If you feel thirsty, then drink until your thirst is slaked. It`s that simple.

An easy way to get enough water every day is to install a water cooler or bottled water dispenser in your home or office. Sydney folks can get these delivered directly to home or office through Tranquil Water (http://www.tranquilwater.com.au).

If Only an Apple a Day Was the Way

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Famous 19th century humorist, Josh Billings, stated, “Health is like money, we never have a true idea of its value until we lose it.”

This is a sound saying for the solopreneur. A prolonged illness is probably the worst occurrence that could happen to a solopreneur. A solopreneur is his business. Not being able to work is challenging. Not having a health care plan can be a disaster.

Before you get started, make a list of your medical needs and finances you have available. Costs for medical care will vary based upon your needs, your age and pre-existing conditions. Knowing what basic needs that you want to cover will help decide the right coverage for you – and the best possible price.

There are several options that you have for health care coverage.

Spousal Coverage
Does a working spouse have a health plan? This is probably the easiest and cheapest solutions.

Group Health Coverage
Three primary places to look for group health plans (yes, individual can qualify for group plans) are through insurance companies, business organizations and associations. Many insurance companies realize that there are a growing number of self-employed people who lack coverage. Your local Chamber of Commerce will generally offer group plan discounts to its members. Sometimes other associations within your industry offer plans, too.

COBRA
The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) requires that companies having a group health insurance plan with 20 or more employees offer a continuation of their benefits to enrolled employees after they leave. So if you are at the stage of making the leap from employee to solopreneur, check into your current company`s COBRA benefits.

Individual Plans
This is going to be the most costly solution – but, it still should cost you less than the medical bills for hospital visits and extended care costs without insurance.

To find the right policy, you can go through one of the following sources:

Talk with an insurance broker.
Contact one of the major health insurance providers direct (i.e. Blue Cross Blue Shield).
Do a search on the Internet.
Check with any business organizations or associations that you belong to.
Check with the National Association for the Self Employed (NASE).
Speak with doctors that you want covered and find out what plans they accept.
Check with your state`s Health Care Cost Containment System for their benefits.

Other options outside of insurance policies are Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) similar to Aflac and Medical Discount Cards (MDCs). These are ways to help you save for medical expenses when a high deductible health plan won`t cover the costs or if you don`t have an insurance policy at all.

The last option is to go without insurance. Even if you don`t have health insurance, you should have a plan. Locate the urgent care facilities in your area. Research the doctors in your area that are fed up with insurance companies and offer fee-for-service programs. They will either bill a flat fee or by the minute.

The key is to be well prepared with a plan. You never know when you may be stricken with and injury or illness. Having a health care plan can not only save you possibly thousands of dollars in expenses, it can save your business.

All The Best,

Learning to Think: Part Three – Continuing Mindfulness Throughout the Day

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Fall is well underway here in Michigan, and the beautiful fall colors can be seen for miles around. It is such a wonderful sight to see children, young and old, out and about enjoying the wonderful scenery. My young son has become increasingly aware of the seasons, and it has been amazing for me to watch him make discoveries about the changes in his world. During this time of change, I continue to think about the mindfulness that is so important for every child. Watching my son think, learn, and process information related to the changing seasons has brought me more joy than I could have ever imagined.

In my last article, I discussed two strategies to increase students’ mindfulness throughout the school day. It is so important for our students to be learning to think independently, and not just learning rote skills that they cannot apply. Here are a few more strategies that I would like to share with you that will help increase the mindfulness of your students.

• Play “I Spy” with your students. Students at any age love to play games. The “I Spy” game can be adapted for any age of students. This game consists of one person visually locating an item within a room, and then providing clues to his or her peers about the item. You could spy a small plant growing on the teacher’s desk, for example, and then provide clues like “this is green” and “it continues to grow”. The audience then guesses what the person is spying, and whoever guesses correctly gets to be the “spy” next. This game provides students with opportunities to practice basic problem solving skills and information processing.
• Rearrange the daily schedule. As teachers, we often get into a rut of doing the same thing at the same time each day. Consistent schedules are often positive elements of an effective classroom; however, the same thing day in and day out can become monotonous, static, and even boring for the students and the teachers. Providing simple variations to your classroom schedule can be an effective tool for increasing the flexibility and mindfulness of your students. For example, if you consistently have a snack before doing math, try having the snack during or after your math lesson. By providing a schedule that is fairly consistent yet flexible, you will be providing your students with opportunities to increase their abilities as well.
• Vary the way you teach lessons. Often as teachers, we have a favorite spot of two from which we prefer to teach. These may be in front of the class, by the white board or projector, or walking amongst our students. There are, however, many different places within the classroom where you can teach from. For example, you could teach while sitting at a student’s desk, sitting in the back of the room, or sitting on the floor together as a group. By providing variations to the way you deliver instruction, you can provide students with variations and opportunities to do think independently as well as get a glimpse of what may be happening in other portions of your classroom.

By providing your students, and yourself, with some simple variations and opportunities to be mindful individuals, you will be setting the stage for a community of lifelong thinkers. I look forward to sharing more thoughts with you regarding learning and thinking in the months to come!

Medical Sterilization and Autoclave Systems for Day Surgeries

Monday, December 29th, 2008

The Australian company, Sabac Australia, designs and manufactures a range of sterilisers including autoclave equipment and accessories. Most of the operation theatres use the tabletop sterilisers that perfectly fit into the modular space design of the clinics. The pre and post autoclave sterilizers use the most sophisticated tabletop technology available. This medical sterilization equipment is known for its reduced cycle time and is also reasonably priced.

The automatic autoclave steriliser series include autoclave equipment that offers a high return on your investment. This medical sterilization equipment is known for rapid cycles, safety, durability, and low maintenance. The semi automatic autoclave steriliser is sought by private clinics which stress safety, reliability, and quality. The products in this category offer reduced running costs, and are maintenance free. The features include double locking safety device, door failure protection, heat insulation and automatic shut off in case of emergency.

Big hospitals and health centers that have a large number of beds and have adequate space, opt for large hospital sterilizers. The chamber volumes of these autoclave sterilizers range from 120 liters to more than 1000 liters. These mid-range and large range autoclave sterilisers put safety before anything else. The safety features include double door safety, safety valves, built-in steam generator safety and emergency shut-down.

Medical waste management is another issue which need frequent innovation in medical sterilization equipment. Most of the hospitals and health care facilities need to adhere to strict guidelines for managing the medical waste generated. The bio-hazard sterilizer is an autoclave steriliser that uses the high vacuum steam environment technology, where steam acts as the sterilization agent.

It is designed to dispose medical waste in a safe, cost effective and environment friendly manner. Here the sterilization cycle is short, being less than 50 minutes. Most of these autoclaves conform to the ASME standards and other government regulations that are required by law. Recently the autoclave Australia products that are coming into the market are becoming an instant hit. The chlorine dioxide gas chamber is the most common method applied for pre-cleaning of autoclave equipment.

How many calories do I burn in a day

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Obesity is now considered to be the second most common “preventable” disease today. It is so common that one out of every 4 adults living in New York is obese. However, it is good to know that people are now more aware of this health issue and they are taking extra measures like seeking professional help and going on proper diets to counter this hidden disease.

People have now started seeking long term solutions instead of quick fixes and diet fads. They have started learning and applying proper intake of daily calories and started reading product labels to see if what they will be buying will give them healthy benefits.

We all need approximately 1000 to 1500 calories every day for our daily activities. We even burn calories while we sleep. So in order for us to lose weight, we need to consume less calories or we need to use more calories every 24 hours.

How Do We Burn Calories Every Day?

Your daily activities: Standing=25 calories per hour; doing light housework=70-150; sitting or resting=20; thinking=10; leasurely walking=100-125; while getting dressed=35; but when you do strenuous exercises you can burn 200 to 500 calories.

There are many factors you may need to consider to know how much calories you would need each day. These factors are dependent on your body frame, genetic make up, metabolism and even your emotional state for that day.

If you want to know the approximate amount of calories you need every day to create a caloric deficit and lose weight, you can use this simple formula: bodyweight x 13= daily caloric intake. With this method you can more or less have a good idea about your daily calorie requirement.

This simple formula can give you the approximate amount only. If you weight 163 lbs multiply it by 13 equals 2119. Your caloric intake should just be approximately 2100 calories every day for you to lose weight. It will certainly help a lot if you could add some light to moderate exercises if you want to make your weight loss faster.

If you eat more calories than you need your body will store them as fat. Regardless what other diet products say, it doesn’t matter whether the calories are from fat or carbohydrates. Learn how you can use calories to your advantage through Fat Loss For Idiots.
Fat Loss For Idiots formulized the latest weight loss strategy called “calorie shifting” which helps you burn fat faster by doing metabolic tricks to your body.
