Play Star Wars Atari Arcade Game – Star Wars Episode IV, a New Hope

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

This article is for anyone interested in play Atari title Star Wars for Arcade 1983. The game was based around Star War Episode IV: A New Hope. It focuses on a space simulator of one of the final scenes destroying the Death Star. It is a 3-D scale projection with a Star Wars theme made by Atari. How can you go wrong. On top of that you even play the role of Luke Skywalker.

There are three parts to this game since all games in the early 80`s did not have a lot of memory or game length. The whole point of the game is to lead Luke Skywalker to shoot the vent destroying the Death Star.

Parts of the Atari Arcade Game
The first part of the game was engaging in fight between you “Luke Skywalker” and Darth Vader/ TIE Fighter pilots.

The second phase is when Luke reaches the surface of the Death Star and must shoot down as many Laser Towers as he can. If you manage to destroy all of the Laser Towers you will receive a handsome bonus.

Finally the last part is you have to shoot the exhaust vent on the Death Star destroying it. If you hit the exhaust vent without shooting anything else you receive a bonus for “Using the Force”. Then you replay the game on a harder difficulty each time you complete the third part of the Death Star.

Star Wars games are easy to find online for free to play from your browser window but to find this game you must specify Arcade games by Atari. It is a 3-D Projection Game. Also note that in the original Arcade game that the Voice Actors were actually the Actors from the movie. Even Chewie. For those of you who this inspired to relive the classic story of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope enjoy and good luck.

Repowering Your Jacobsen Greens King IV Mower

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Small engine vehicles have been revitalized and revamped over the last several years. Golf carts and hauling vehicles once innovative in the 1980s were still able to be improved upon in the areas of design, steering mechanism, vehicle weight and basic functionality. Mowers, however, have remained constant in their design and mechanics for quite some time. The single biggest area of improvement for golf course and large area mowers is in the engine. Recent small engine mechanics innovation has allowed designers to create more powerful, easier to maintain, and more efficient engines for these pieces of equipment. Though older model mowers may have quality engines that are still getting the job done, many landscapers or greens keepers may find that the engine does not provide the power or efficiency that a newer vehicle could. Buying a new mower in order to get the power of a modern small engine is not necessary if you consider repowering the vehicle instead.

What Is Repowering?

Repowering a small engine refers to installing a newer rebuilt engine into an existing vehicle in order to improve its performance and save on buying a brand new vehicle or motor. By repowering, a landscapers or golf course maintenance crew gets more than just swapping out an old engine for the same rebuilt model engine. Rather, a repower kit swaps out an old engine for a newer, better engine model built with the latest technology. Repowering results in a better small engine in a vehicle for the fraction of the price of buying a new one.

I Already Have A Quality Engine

If you are a smart consumer, you have already bought a large mower from a reputable brand that stands by its products. So, you may wonder why you would ever want to consider repowering. Consider the Jacobsen Greens King IV. Jacobsen has an incredible reputation for being a leading turf maintenance mowers and equipment manufacturer for over 100 years. The company‘s Greens King IV has been one of their best selling vehicles for over a quarter of a century. These mowers, however, will last longer and perform better if their engines are updated to newer models.

The need to innovate and improve performance is well understood by Jacobsen. The company’s newer model Greens King IV has a 16 or 18 horse power Briggs & Stratton Vanguard gas engines. Older models have a 14 or 16 horse power Kohler engines. Improving the engine is important to the long-term life of the mower and to achieve better performance. This is why so many are choosing to repower their landscaping mowers – to give their well-maintained older models more power and extend their life.

Jacobsen Greens King IV is a popular landscaping mower and hauling vehicle manufacturer. As such, there are a variety of repower kits available. There are Briggs & Stratton Vanguard small engines or Kohler small engine rebuild kits available, depending on what engine is currently installed in the GV IV. Diesel models are also great candidates for repower kits. Those landscapers with other mowers brands, something other than a Jacobsen, can easily find a repower kit compatible with their model too.

Where Do I Find A Repower Kit?

Small engine repower or rebuild kits are available from several certified dealers online. When looking for a kit, make sure the one you purchase comes with a warranty that you would expect from the original factory dealer. They are available. This will give you piece of mind and assurance that the quality of your machine will remain intact. After all, repowering a small engine is a step toward improving the value of your mower and extending its life.

Part IV – Getting Your Site Indexed in MSN

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Althoug MSN is lagging behind both Yahoo and Google when it comes to the ways you can get your site indexed, it is still one of the top three search engines, and it should not be ignored.

MSN offers you two different ways to get your site indexed, and you should submit to both. However, before you do that, make sure that you have optimized your website first.

You can get more information on optimizing your site for MSN, as well as tips on search engine optimization, here:

http://www.submit-it.com/subopt.htm

The tips that you will find here basically apply to optimizing your site for any search engine, but they are definitely worth the read so that you focus your search engine optimization efforts in a way that will get your site indexed.

As I mentioned before, there are two ways to get indexed by MSN. The first involves submitting to the Intomi index. The Intomi index actually powers the MSN search.

Inktomi is now also part of Yahoo. However, you should still submit your site here. This will allow you to get indexed by hundreds of sites if your site is accepted.

http://submitit.bcentral.com/msnsubmit.htm

You will need to use a valid email address for your site. Make sure that you use an email account that you actually use so that if there is a problem, you can promptly fix it. You may also need to confirm your submission.

Keep in mind that there are no guarantees on turnaround, and there are also no guarantees that your site will be accepted.

The second part of submitting to MSN is actually submitting to the MSN spider. Rob Benwell, of “Blogging to the Bank” fame, said that he used MSN for his searches when looking for niches, because MSN updates more quickly than either Yahoo or Google, and this was why he used MSN to test his results.

This may be good advice. However, I believe that you should submit manually to MSN for the following reason: this is the number two website on the internet. It gets an enormous amount of traffic, and the traffic that this site brings you can help you with both your rankings, as well as being found by searchers.

ComScore Networworks reports that 48 percent of MSN searchers are more likely to buy, whereas Google searchers are 42 percent likely to buy. Yahoo users are 41 percent more likely to buy. Although these statistics were released in 2005, you can get more information from this site on demographic buying habits of searchers: http://www.comscore.com/

Now, you can use the link below to submit directly to the MSN spider:

http://beta.search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx

A word of caution here: when submitting to MSN, make sure that you understand the characters in the verification image on this page. You must type them exactly as you see them, or your site won`t get submitted.

If your submission is successful, you will see a message that tells you your submission is successful and will ask you if you want to submit another site.

Once you have MSN crawling your site, you shouldn`t have to resubmit.

If you follow these steps carefully, you should have no trouble getting your site accepted. Create great content, build links back to your site, and target the correct keywords, and you can get very high rankings.

Jinger Jarrett will show you how to optimize your site for the search engines and do it for free. You can get her free ebook, “Search Engine Secrets”, 10 comprehensive pages of the best white hat search engine optimization techniques, when you visit her site at http://www.jingerjarrett.com

Vibration Eleven, Twenty-Two and Thirty Three – Part IV

Vibration Eleven, Twenty-Two and Thirty-Three v By Joseph Ghabi

Here is the next set of vibrations. In my previous articles we
looked at Vibration One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight
and Nine for those whose life path happened to be one of those
numbers.

If your date of birth adds up to 11/2, 22/4 or 33/6, here is some
explanation of your destiny. You need to remember that before your
final vibration there are two numbers that determined your Life
Path. In our case here we do have a double digit 11, 22 and 33.
Review well 1, 2 and 3 because of their importance in your life.
Those two numbers are very important to consider in order to bring
yourself in alignment and to prepare for you being on this plane, at
this particular point in time. Your life path can be either a high
vibration or a low vibration life path. You cannot be 11 before
understanding well its lower vibration 2(1+1). The same goes for 22
or 4(2+2) and 33 or 6(3+3).

Let`s take someone who is born on:
October 27 1985 = 1 + 0 + 2 + 7 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 5 = 33/6

As you will see 33/6, you need to really understand 3 and 6 in this
case. The two numbers before our life path are really important and
are your early experiences and lessons in life. These numbers are
only the preparation for your life Path. In the case of Master
numbers we only have one number to deal with.

If a Master Number is in your life path, it did not happen by
chance. Your soul is looking forward to it, for what it can bring to
the growth required for the soul evolution. Sometimes these energies
are very strong for people to handle. We can always start to work
with their lower vibrations respectively. People with these numbers
in many cases find themselves not understood by their family and
friends. They feel lonely and weird. Many can attempt suicide at
certain points in their lives as life moves too fast for them.
Master Numbers are after making worldwide changes and elevating
other souls.

Review these numbers from previous articles or visit my website.

11
The Intuitive Eleven v Practical Visionary

Eleven possesses the qualities of intuition, patience, honesty,
sensitivity, and spirituality, and is idealistic. You are a great
leader. You can/could be a very good minister or religious leader.
Eleven vibration means: you are an idealist, a dreamer, and
sometimes a mystic. Having much vision, you should be an inspiration
to others. People enjoy being in your surroundings for your
inspiration and support. You can open doors and help others reach
greater achievements. Being psychic, you should follow your hunches.
You belong on a platform giving speeches or sermons, for people like
to listen to you. You must learn to be practical and carry out your
plans. Otherwise, you are apt to live in the clouds and accomplish
nothing. You must learn to keep appointments, and be on time for
them. Others turn to people who are Eleven for teaching and
inspiration, and are usually uplifted by the experience. You should
think of others first, by serving mankind, instead of concentrating
on affairs that will yield well only for yourself.

It is necessary for people who are Eleven to avoid the negatives of
being, stubborn, inflexible, unrealistic and temperamental. You
should avoid projecting your own faults onto others, or imposing
standards on others that are too high for them to be realistically
attained.

Eleven lives in two worlds. On practical days, it vibrates with the
Two. If you feel you are still in your Two vibration, consult our
previous article on that vibration. On days that it senses its full
nature, it is of an energy that translates from a world beyond.
Therefore, Number Eleven`s energy is:

= Awareness
= Six-senses
= Creative
= Sensitive
= Dreamy
= Inspiring
= Illumination
= Leadership

22
The Improving Twenty-Two v Practical Optimism

Twenty-Two possesses the qualities of imagination, loyalty, secrecy,
optimism, and heightened perception. Twenty-Two vibration means: you
are a practical idealist. You not only have visions, but you can see
things on a large scale and are able to carry out your plans to
achieve your goal. You heard in your surroundings an Eleven
discussions by some inspiring people but you are determined to take
their message further. You are a master builder, bringing order to
the world. You always have things in good order in presentation to
the world around you. You are an internationalist. Your power and
influence can be far reaching. You should launch projects for the
benefit of humanity. You are able to deal with groups effectively.
You are hard working, consistent, well organized and tolerant, and
can be a very generous supporter. You aim to leave the world in a
better state than the one in which you found it. Much is expected of
you, for Twenty-Two is very high number. Many of these expectations
are coming from you, because you are aware of your own vibration and
the energy around you. If you do not live up to your
responsibilities, you may revert to living as a Four.

It is necessary for people who are Twenty-Two to avoid the negatives
of being pessimistic, cynical, selfish, manipulative, or of
developing an inferiority complex. In the extreme, you could become
malicious and dictatorial.

If we build upon a foundation of precision and balance, we will have
a master plan. On a practical day, the Twenty-Two becomes the Four.
When Twenty-Two senses its full capacity, it can achieve what is
barely imaginable. The qualities the Number Twenty-Two embraces are:

= Mastery of vast co-creative projects
= Great Achievement
= Ingenuity
= Idealism
= Pace setter
= High Energy
= Master Builder

33
The Burdened Thirty-Three v Worldly Farsighted

Thirty-Three is the most difficult number of all to bear, as it is
the number representing martyrdom and unconditional love. Many of
Thirty-Three are on this plane at this time to bring new
transformation and bring new consciousness to this planet. Thirty-
Three vibration means: you are too powerful and advanced a number
for many individuals to handle at this time. You are spaced out most
of the time. People do not understand you easily at the moment, but
will remember your words later on. When Thirty-Three has been
calculated as the total of a name or destiny of a person, they are
greatly advanced spiritually. Thirty-Three combines the imaginative
self-expression of the `Three` with the ability of the Six to
respond and nurture. You are a master teacher who could guide the
inquiring student into all areas of the known and unknown fields of
knowledge and human experience. You are the teacher of all teachers.

You are a great healer. People are attracted to your energy at all
time. Once your vibration opens to its full potential you become
very charismatic and magnetic. The fully developed Thirty-Three
would be a master performer, enchanting an audience while
communicating or indoctrinating the listeners into whatever area the
Thirty-Three chooses to guide the contender. The Number Thirty-Three
possesses the qualities of healing, spiritual warmth, and caring,
fighting for the oppressed, and taking on the worries of the world.
Others, particularly children, are drawn to people who are Thirty-
Three by their love. Much is expected of you, for a Thirty-Three is
the highest master number possible. If you do not live up to your
responsibilities, you may revert to living as a Six. It is necessary
for people who are Thirty-Three to avoid the negatives of being
interfering and afraid to heal themselves and others. `Thirty-
Threes` can also wallow in self-pity, even when it is unnecessary,
always becoming the martyr. This can attract others who would take
advantage of the negatives of Thirty-Three.

Within the essence lies enormous potential for Thirty-Three. On a
practical day, Thirty-Three becomes Six. When it senses its full
capacity as teacher of all teachers, Thirty-Three plays a role that
will help make the big changes needed to the world. The qualities
the Number Thirty-Three embraces are:

= Master Teacher
= Worldly success
= Perfection
= Compassion
= Skill and Fame
= Wisdom
= Unconditional Love

This is the end of this series.

Super Bowl IV

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Recently, I had the privilege of being the MC at a business breakfast. Our guest speaker was Len Dawson, who is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and was the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs in the very first Super Bowl. Mr. Dawson spoke about three keys for success.

Prior to the meeting, I got to spend a few minutes talking with Len. He is a wonderful man. He told me that he doesn`t do very many of these events, so I knew it was real treat to have him speak. Following a video presentation about his life, I brought him up to the lectern.

He talked about his childhood leading up to his pro football career as well as his sports broadcasting career afterward. (He still does the radio broadcast for the Chiefs.) He then went on to give us three keys for success: fundamentals, teamwork and a winning attitude.

Fundamentals: Mr. Dawson talked about how import fundamentals are for success. He told us that he practiced his drills faithfully for 20 years. He also talked about being prepared.

In the video presentation there was actually footage of Len throwing an interception in Super Bowl I. Not too many people would want to show that as an example to anybody! But he included it to make a point about being prepared.

He told us that on that particular play, he was not prepared for a blitz from the Green Bay Packers defense. Because of that, he tried to throw a pass when he shouldn`t have. He made his point well that part of fundamentals is being prepared.

Teamwork: Mr. Dawson went on to discuss teamwork as another great key for success. “If everyone on the team does their best, then that`s teamwork,” Len said, “and you can be successful.”

He told us that you have to be open to listen to other people`s opinions. In Super Bowl IV, Len was sitting on the bench next to his receiver, Otis Taylor. The Chief`s defense was doing a great job against the Minnesota Vikings` offense. Otis told Len of a play he knew would be effective against the Viking defense. “Back then,” Len said, “the quarterback would call most of the plays.”

He went on to tell us that Otis proceeded to write out the play in the dirt just like kids do. Otis told him that if he tried the play he knew he could beat the defender. A few minutes later it was time for the offense to take the field. Otis asked Len if he was going to call that play. “No,” was Len`s reply. “Not `till we get in the huddle. Hell yeah, I`m going to call that play!”

The play worked great, leading the Chiefs to a touchdown. Len Dawson and Kansas City Chiefs then went on to win Super Bowl IV. And even though Len was named the MVP of the game, he stressed that the Chiefs won because of their teamwork.

A Winning Attitude: The final point Len talked about was having a winning attitude. Len said that the difference between Super Bowl I and Super Bowl IV was a winning attitude. In Super Bowl IV, they knew they could beat the Vikings. Their fundamentals were in tune, and they were prepared. They utilized teamwork, and they had a winning attitude.

A winning attitude is not only important, it is critical for success. And yet it is so often overlooked.

Fundamentals, teamwork and a winning attitude are three important keys to success. Having that determination, conviction, and an absolute assurance that you are going to succeed, will produce great results. It doesn`t matter if it`s football or sales, or whatever – having a positive winning attitude will bring you success.

The Fourfold Yoga IV

The Fourfold Yoga – Part IV

Union via Universal Love ( Bhakthi Yoga )

The noblest Union is Union via Love. Love is an outpouring of the heart and Love is Love`s reward.

Love is a glory from Eternity`s spheres
He is still the Godhead that can make all change

Love should never cease to be upon the earth
Love is the bright link betwixt earth and heaven
Love is the far Transcendent`s angel here
Love is man`s lien on the Absolute ( Aurobindo )

All other yogas are difficult to practice. Raja Yoga ( Union via psychic control ) is difficult because we have to keep up Brahmacharya ( continence ), Jnana Yoga is difficult because of the philosophic subtlety of the concepts & Karma Yoga is difficult because its end is far, far away. On the other hand Bhakti Yoga or Union via Love is simple to practise because there are no restrictions in this noblest and blest Union via Love.

Having a Tutelary Deity is the first step. This Deity should be worshipped in thought, word and deed.

” By giving thyself up in heart and soul to Me, thou shalt overcome all difficulties by My Grace ” says He in the Geetha.

Only Universal Love can redeem the world. The salvation of the world is in love and through love.

“Take away Love and the whole world becomes a tomb” said Byron

Man is endowed with many positive qualities. Truth, Ethics, Peace, the Discriminative intellect & Love are the major five positive qualities in man. Of these, Love is the greatest positive quality.

If we incorporate love, we can see that our lives become peaceful & spiritually resplendent. We are asked to incorporate this supreme quality, which is a prerequisite for Liberation or Self-Realisation.

Freud identified Thanatos ( Death Instinct ) as the destructive element in Man. Contray to Thanatos is Eros or the Life Instinct. It is true that Thanatos ( Death Instinct ) or the Vedantic Thamas is the villain of the piece as far as this sin-sick world is concerned. The Mr Hyde in man is very powerful. In Man there is an eternal fight going on between Conscience and Expedience. between Eros and Thanatos! We have not yet defined the Life instinct. This anti-Thanatos principle is Love !

So the preserving quality is Love. Love alone is the Saviour, Love alone is the Redeemer. He who embraces Love is blessed and he alone can save the world.

His light and life is given to balance here
The dark account of mortal ignorance!

It is this quality which is highly favoured by Heaven !

Love rules the court, the camp and the grove,
All men below and saints above
For Love is Heaven and Heaven is Love !

As one Great One said

Love all beings
That is enough !

Or Alexander Pope

He prayeth best who loveth best
Both bird and man and beast

When it comes to Jnana & Bhakti Yogas, it is said that He, before whom even the Vedas remain mute, prefers Union via Love to Union via Wisdom.

It is like the wife and lady love. Jnana Yoga is the wife and Bhakthi Yoga is the lady love.

Jnana Yoga is like the wife. It asks ” Why didnt you actualise the Self ?”

Bhakti Yoga is like the lady love. It asks ” No problem ; there is still time for you to actualise”

More information about Transcendental Philosophy & Yoga can be
had from http://www.astrologiavedica.com/html/yogamain.htm

In the Divina Commedia, Beatrice criticises Dante for following Philosophy and not Religion. Under Beatrice`s compulsion Dante changes over to Bhakti Yoga, away from Being and Becoming !

I wake amaze and in the windows blaze
The forms of saints & holy men who died
Hereafter martyred and hereafter crucified
And the Great Rose upon its leaves displays
Love`s triumph and the angelic roundelays
With splendour upon splendour multiplied
And Beatrice again at Dante`s side!
No more rebuking but smiling her words of praise ( Longfellow )

The strict restrictions in other Yogas make it difficult to practise them. On the other hand, there are no restrictions in Bhakthi Yoga. The process of spiritual evolution is automatic and all blocks will be removed by Divine Grace.

In the Geetha, He hath declared that Bhakthi is the greatest of all yogas. The bliss that accrues from sheer devotion is ineffable !

The basic dictums of Bhakthi Yoga are simple. They are

Love All
Serve All
Help Ever
Hurt Never
Hate None
Nurture All
Educate All

If we can do this spontaneously, we have reached Universal Love.

“I shall deliver thee from all sin and evil” says He in the Geetha. The debit in our Karmic balance sheet will be exhausted & we become eligible for Self-Actualisation.

As Robert Bach said ” At the end of our terrestrial journey, one question will be asked. How much did we love and what is the quality of our love ? “

Love your neighbour because he is like you; and love your enemy because enmity is a misunderstanding.

Start the day with Love
End the day with Love
Spend the day with Love
Fill the day with Love
That is the way to the Divine ( Sai )

The simple wisdom which is Love can redeem us & this world!

Economists say that Money makes the world go around. While this statement is true superficially, when we go deeply, we find that some other emotion makes the world go around. It is Love that makes the world go around!

When we ask one thing, God gives that one thing but when we ask nothing, He gives everything, He gives Himself & also the spontaneous boons of His love! Our prayer should be like the prayer of the poet who prayed ” I desire nothing
from Thee, I desire only Thee ! “.

The Fourfold Dharma & the Fifth Dharma

The Law asks us to practice the Fourfold Dharma

They are

1) Brahmacharya – During pre-marriage days one should steadfastly follow Dharma

2) Garhastya – Once married, should do both duties – worldly & divine
.
3) Vanaprastha – Once responsibilities are over, one should seek the Divine

4) Sanyasa – To walk in the Self; to embrace none but Him.

There is a fifth Dharma. It is called Prajna Dharma, the Highest Wisdom is Love!

The Four Purusharthas ( objectives ) & the Fifth Purushartha

There are four purusharthas. They are Artha ( Wealth ), Dharma ( Ethics & Morality), Kama ( Desires ) & Moksha ( Self-Realisation ).

There is a fifth Purushartha. It is Prema, Love !

Premam Brahma – Love is He ! The highest knowledge is Love !

The equation of Jnana Yoga – Prajnanam Anandam Brahma (The Self is Consciousness & Bliss ) is replaced by the more powerful equation of Bhakthi Yoga – Premam Anandam Brahma ( Self is Love and Bliss ) ! Love alone can confer Bliss!

Love is a manna sent from Heaven, a spark of the Immortal Fire, sent by the Lord to elevate our low desire!

The heart is 60 times more powerful than the brain. There is only one language and it is the language of the heart!

” Only via Love can anybody reach me ” says Lord Krishna in the Gita. Same statement is attributed to Jesus ” No one cometh to the Father, but via Me “. All these smack of the high importance the Yogis have given to this supreme quality, Bhakthi or Universal Love !

All wisdom is contained in Love and love alone can heal this sin-sick world, as love is divine medicine!

It is said that the Lord is playing hide and seek! Himself the play, Himself the player, Himself the playground!

The Universal Governor of life lies in us
He is playing hide and seek with his own force
Eternal, He assents to Fate and chance
Immortal, He dallies with mortality
Divine, he wears the form of animal and man
He whose transcendence rules the pregnant vasts
Prescient lay in our subliminal depths
A luminous individual power, alone – ( Aurobindo )

And His mantra is LOVE !

Vedic Astrology Lesson 4 by G Kumar (c) 2001.

As the earth sphere is divided into the Western & the Eastern hemispheres by the Prime Meridien ( the Greenwich Meridien ) so is the Celestial Sphere divided into Western and Eastern hemispheres by the Celestial Meridien. As the globe is divided into northern and southern hemispheres by the Equator, so is the Celestial Sphere divided into the nothern and southern hemispheres by the Celestial Equator.

The Four Major Mathematical Points of the Zodiac

In Astronomy the Eastern Horizon is called the Ascendant. 180 degrees from it is the Western Horizon called as the Descendant. The intersecting point where the Ecliptic cuts the Celestial Meridien is called the Meridien Cusp ( M C ) and 180 degrees from it is called the Imum Coeli ( I C ).

The Computation of Houses

First the longitude of the Ascendant is calculated by using the following formula

Tan L = Sin E
—————————————
Cos E Cos w – Sin w Tan A

Where L is the Ascendant, E is the Right Ascension of East Point , w the Sun`s maximum declination and A – the latitude of the place. Once the Ascending degree is known , 180 degrees is subtracted to get the Descendant.

The MC is calculated by using the following formula

Tan K = Tan R / Cos w

Where is the longitude of the MC, R the Right Ascension of the Meridien Cusp and w the Sun`s maximum declination. 180 degrees deducted from the MC is the longitude of the IC.

These 4 are the Four Houses of the Zodiac. Ascendant is the Ist House, IC the Fourth, Descendant the Seventh and MC, the tenth.

We have said that each sign of the Zodiac is 30 degrees each. If the Ascending Degree is Pisces, then the Ascendant is Pisces, the IC is Gemini, the Descendant is Virgo and the MC, Sagittarius.

Rulership of Signs

Aries ruled by Mars
Taurus Venus
Gemini Mercury
Cancer Moon
Leo Sun
Virgo Mercury
Libra Venus
Scorpio Mars
Sagittarius Jupiter
Capricorn Saturn
Aquarius Saturn
Pisces Jupiter

Equal House Division or Bhava Theory

Now we have got the longitudes of the Ascendant ( Udaya Lagna ) , the Descendant ( Astha Lagna), the MC ( Madhya Lagna ) & the IC ( Patala Lagna ).

The distance from the Ascendant and the IC is divided by 3 and we have the first Three Houses.

The distance from the IC and the Descendant is divided by 3 and we have the 4th,5th and 6th houses.

The distance from the Descendant and MC is divided by 3 and we have the 7,8th and 9th houses

The distance from the MC and Ascendant is divided by 3 and we have the 10,11 and 12th houses.

The Houses of the Zodiac and what they represent

First House Signifies Personality and Fame
Second Signifies House Wealth
Third House Signifies Younger coborns, valour
Fourth House Signifies Houses, conveyances
Fifth House Signifies Progeny, divine merit
Sixth House Signifies Enemies, debts
Seventh House Signifies Life Partner
Eighth House Signifies Death
Ninth House Signifies Fortune, father, Guru
Tenth House Signifies Profession
Eleventh House Signifies Gains, Fulfillment of all desires
Twelfth House Signifies Liberation, incarceration.

More quality information about Vedic Astrology & an Astrological
Analysis can be had from http://www.astrologiavedica.com/html/vedichoroscope.htm

The First House or Ascendant ( Lagna )

Fame and personality are indicated by the First House. The greatest wealth that is Health is also indicated by the Ascendant. Analysing the strength of the First house consists in assessing the strength of the Ascendant lord , the strength of the planets occupying the First House and the planets which aspect the Ascendant. If the First House is highly fortified, then the qualities denoted by the First House ( like Fame, Health and Personality ) will be highly fortified. If weak, then the qualities will be weak. viz the native will be less famous and mediocre.

The Second House

Wealth is ruled by the 2nd house. The other significations are family & speech. If the 2nd house is powerful , then the probability of the native acquring wealth will be high. Accumulated property is ruled by the 2nd house.

The Third House

Younger coborns are ruled by the 3rd house. Valour and virility are also ruled by the 3rd house.

If the 3rd house or its lord is powerful, younger coborns achieve success. The native becomes known for his or her courage and valour.

The Fourth House

Mother, friends, uncle, houses and conveyances are ruled by the Fourth. If the fourth house is powerful, then the native gets good conveyances & house. If weak, then the native struggles to get these acquisitions.

The Fifth House

Intelligence is ruled by the Fifth house. If the 5th lord is powerful, the native becomes highly intelligent.

Divine merit is also indicated by the Fifth House, the fifth being a moral triangle.

The Sixth House

Enemies and debts are ruled by the sixth house. If the sixth house is powerful, enemies get destroyed.

The native becomes debt-free. On the other hand, if the sixth be weak, persecution from enemies and torture by debts.

The Seventh House

Life-partner is indicated by the seventh house. The native gets a rich partner if the seventh house is powerful. Diplomacy is also indicated by the seventh house.

The Eighth House

Death is indicated by the eighth louse. Lots of longevity if the eighth house is powerful. If the eighth house be powerful, less obstacles & hindrances on the path of life.

The Ninth House

Fortune, Guru, Divine Merit – all these are the characteristics of the Ninth House. If the ninth house is powerful, spiritual progress and the smiling of Fortune. The Ninth House can confer not only Fortune, but also a cordially disposed spouse and good children too.

The Tenth House

This is considered to be a very important House as it indicates one`s profession.

If the tenth lord is powerful, the native becomes reputed . Professional enhancement and reputation.

The Eleventh House

This is the house of Gains and Fulfillment of all desires. All planets are welcome in the Eleventh. Excellent position for Saturn and Jupiter to be in. If the eleventh lord is powerful, even anarchic qualities may manifest.

The Twelfth House

This is the house of Liberation. Excellent position for South Node (Ketu) to be in( as he is signiicator of Liberation ).On the negative side, incarceration and loss indicated by this house.

If the twelfth house is powerful, the native attains to Liberation, provided Jupiter, Saturn and Ketu are well posited.

While analysing the strength of Houses, the strength of its Lord, the strength of the planet posited in the House, the aspects of other planets on it – all these factors should be considered.

Astrology as related to Yoga.

Yoga or Union with Cosmic Creative Intelligence is strongly related to Astrology. Self Actualisation is the aim of Yoga. One of the sciences which aid Self Actualisation is Astrology as it deals with the natural & celestial causes and can guide man to the Ultimate Goal which is Self- Realisation.

Jean Dixon averred that the twelve disciples of Jesus represented the 12 Signs of the Zodiac. The twelve Tribes of Israel were emblematic of these 12 constellations. The 36 genii of the Egyptian Calender symbolise the 36 decanates of the Zodiac. The 24 hours are actually the 24 Horas of the Zodiac.

Astronomia Vedica IV

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Astronomy, ” the science of the Heavens “, was well developed by the Indians
and noted scholar Eirik L Harris remarked that ” the Vedic culture was very
rich in astronomical thinking.” The Winter Solstice was the base of all
year-long sacrifices and the Vedic knowledge of both winter and summer
solstices were accurate. There is a verse in the Rig Veda stating that
Winter Solstice was in Aries. ” The period of the Rig Veda was therefore
6500 BC and it is possible to date the Rig Veda thus ” remarks Eirik L
Harris. Astronomy and Mathematics were inspired by Vedic practices.

Another scholar B.V.Subbarayyappa remarked that ” Indian mathematics too
owes its primary inspiration to Vedic practices. The Shulba sutras, part of
another Vedic auxiliary called the Kalpa sutras, deal with the construction
of several types of brick altars and in that context with certain
geometrical problems including the Pythagorean theorem, squaring a circle,
irrational numbers and the like. Yet another Vedic auxiliary, Metrics
(chandah), postulated a triangular array for determining the type of
combinations of `n` syllables of long and short sounds for metrical
chanting. This was mathematically developed by Halayudha who lived in
Karnataka (10th Century) into a pyramidal expansion of numbers. Such an
exercise appeared six centuries later in Europe, known as Pascal`s triangle.
Vedic mathematics and astronomy were pragmatic and integrated with Vedic
religio-philosophical life.”

“During the three centuries before and after the Christian era, there were
new impulses. Astronomy became mathematics-based. In the succeeding
centuries, while astronomy assimilated Hellenic ideas to some extent
mathematics was really innovative. Indian astronomers were able
mathematicians too. The doyen among them, Aryabhatta I (b.476 A.D.) gave the
value of pi (3.1416 approx., a value used even today) worked out
trigonometrical tables, areas of triangles and other plane figures,
arithmetical progression, summation of series, indeterminate equations of
the first order and the like. He expounded that the earth rotates about its
own axis and the period of one sidereal rotation given by him is equivalent
to 23h 56m 4s.1, while the modern value is 23h 56m 4s.091. He discarded the
mythical Rahu-Ketu postulate concerning eclipses in favour of a scientific
explanation.

Aryabhatta`s junior contemporary Varahamihira, was well known for his
compendium, the Panchasiddhantika, a compilation of the then extant five
astronomical works called the Siddhantha- Surya, Paulisha, Romaka, Vasishta,
and Paitamaha. Of them, the Suryasiddhanta, which he regarded as the most
accurate, underwent revisions from time to time and continues to be an
important text for computing pancangas.

Brahmagupta was a noted astronomer mathematician of the 7th Century. His
remarkable contribution was his equation for solving indeterminate equations
of the second order – an equation that appeared in Europe a thousand years
later known as Pell`s equation. His lemmas in this connection were
rediscovered by Euler (1764) and Lagrange (1768). Brahmagupta was also the
first to enunciate a formula for the area of a rational cyclic
quadrilateral. In the latter half of the first millenium A.D. there were
other noted astronomers and mathematicians like Bhaskara I, Lalla,
Pruthudakasvamin, Vateshvara, Munjala, Mahavira (Jaina mathematician),
Shripati, Shridhara, Aryabhatta II , and Vijayanandin. The tradition of
astronomy and mathematics continued unabated – determination of procession
of equinoxes, parallax, mean and true motions of planet, permutations and
combinations, solving quadratic equations, square root of a negative number
and the like.

Using nine digits and zero, the decimal place value system had established
itself by about the 4th century A.D. Says historian of science, George
Sarton, “Our numbers and the use of zero were invented by the Hindus and
transmitted by Arabs, hence the name Arabic numerals which we often give
them.` Brahmagupta`s Brahmasphuta Siddhanta and Khandakhadyaka were also ren
dered into Arabic in the 9th-10th century. The Brahmi numerical forms with
some modifications along with the decimal place-value system developed in
India have since become universal.”

Eirik L Harris remarked that “Additionally, the Vedics, who developed the
Hindu-Arabic number system, were far enough advanced in mathematics to make
many calculations, including that of the complete cycle of the progression
of the equinoxes, though, again, as the Vedas were mainly religious, there
is no mention as to how results like this were derived. Overall, the Vedic
culture was very rich in astronomical thinking, and it is a shame that non
religious texts did not last through the centuries, for they could have
shone more light on the matter of the astronomical accomplishments of the
Vedic people.”

The ancient Indians divided the path of the moon into 27 equal parts called
nakshatras, showing the variation of the relative position of the moon in
comparison to the rest of the stars visible to the Vedic people. These
nakshatras were quite important for determining times of the year, as can be
seen in combination with Vedic mythology, and can also be used to determine
how far back in history Vedic astronomy extended.

The myth of the god Janus shows both of these factors, the determination of
the age of Vedic astronomy and different periods of the year. Janus had four
heads, each of which represented a phase of the moon in Sagittarius (one of
the nakshatras) which marked the four seasons. One head was the full moon
(in Sagittarius) which gave the time of the spring equinox, another was the
new moon, during which time the autumn equinox fell, still another was the
half waning moon, marking the winter solstice, and finally came the head
representing the half waxing moon, during which time came the summer
solstice. From current knowledge of the movement of the sphere of stars
surrounding the earth, it can be calculated that the observations leading to
the myth of Janus were made around 4000 BC. Additionally, within the Rg Veda
is a verse observing the winter solstice in Aries, which would have placed
it at around 6500 BC.

It is possible to date the Rg Veda like this because a complete cycle in the
procession of the equinoxes takes place either every 25,870 to 24,500 years
according to modern astronomers (the exact time period is still disputed by
modern day astronomers), meaning that the moon is only full in Sagittarius
during the spring equinox every 25,000 years or so. Modern astronomers,
however, were not the first to make the difficult calculations to discover
the length of this cycle. The Vedics were able to do this and came up with
the value of 25,870 years. How these ancient people were able to make these
calculations, however is “as great a mystery as the origin of life itself”.

Further observations which could only have taken place around 4000 BC have
also been recorded. These included the constellation Hydra, the god of
darkness. The only time Hydra was fully visible to the people of northern
India was in mid-winter, when the sun shone the fewest hours, hence the
allusion to the god of darkness. More importantly, however, was the fact
that the rains came when Hydra ceased to be completely visible. This was
very important to the farmers of North India, for they needed to know when
the rains would come, so as to know when to prepare their fields and plant
their crops.” ( Astronomy of Vedic India )

Astronomical Mysticism in the Rig Veda

The five fundamental circles, the Celestial Equator ( Vishuvat Vritta) , the
Celestial Meridien ( Khagoleeya Dhruva Rekha ), the Ecliptic ( Kranti
Vritta ), the Nodal Circle ( Vikshepa Vritta ) and the Celestial Horizon
Kshithija ) were called by the Seers as Shahasra Seersha, Sahasra Purusha,
Sahasra Kha, Sahasra Path & Sahasra Bhoomi. This is given in the Hymn, the
Purusha Sooktha, that the Zodiacal Man or Time Eternal lies coiled as the
mighty Zodiac !

The Downward Pull of the Mind

The Downward Pull of the Mind is when the negative elements in the
collective mind or the social mind triumph. Socrates is poisoned. Rimbau
flees to the Abyssinian desert. History is replete with such incidents, when
” the adverse forces ” or ” the hostile forces ” triumph over the positive
forces in the collective or social mind.

The Upward Pull of the Mind

This happens only in the minds of Initiates. ” In Ire ” in Latin means to go
within. Initiates are those who are always in touch with the Divine Self in
themselves. The four faculites of the Intuitive Reason – Revealation,
Inspiration, Intuition & Illumination – are experienced by them. The river
of inspiration flowing from the Truth Consciousness pulls the mind to the
higher regions of the Superconscient. In Geo-Biology, this is the pull of
the mind from the Telluric level to the Cosmic level. The mind experiences
Bliss during this Upward Pull.

The Upward Pull is the master movement of Nature. The upward movement is
that which pulls us from Death ( the senseless attachment to the sensory
world ) to Immortality ( Self- Actualisation) and realises in this body of
earth the luminous Kingdom of Heaven !

Need More Traffic? Optimize Your Website! (Part IV)

Friday, November 28th, 2008

There is one last step needed to move your website into high gear. This step is both easy and hard to implement. How is that for ambiguity? This technique is called linking.

In this case, linking is when one website connects via a hyperlink to another website.

Search engines such as Google use the number of links coming into your website to judge how important it may be to searchers. Links from websites that have a higher page rank than your website will benefit you the most.

When linking, you need to find links that compliment your content. On our Arabian horse website, we may get links from a website that sells saddles or veterinary services.

You could get a link from an online gambling service, but does that really develop your website`s theme and credibility?

Everything the customer sees should further your goal. It does not matter if your site is a sales site or a public service site.

You have spent a lot of time and effort establishing the quality of your website and the level of your expertise. It would be a shame to compromise it. Presenting a consistent professional message is essential to the success of your website.

The various search engines reason that if you have many inbound hyperlinks, then you must be a resource for other websites.

This will increase your ranking on the search engines.

If you post articles to the submission sites we talked about in part 3, you will start to get the benefit of inbound links as they are picked up and posted to other websites and ezines.

You will have to be patient though; it is not a rapid process.

The mechanics of implementing the processes we have talked about are beyond the scope of an article. Many good books are available to show you how to change the technical aspects of your website or you can hire a consultant to handle everything for you.

If you do hire someone, understand a pretty website does not necessarily make an effective website. Keep it simple, keep it effective and close the sale. Let the big corporations keep the showy flash presentations and watch your website become a profit center for you and your family.

For the do-it-yourselfer, try “Electronic Marketing for Small Business” by Tom Antion. It is a great book on how to market your small business.

Until next time, optimize!
