Cosmetic surgery – A temporary obsession

Monday, January 12th, 2009

For many in this day and age, looking young and fresh-faced is the most important thing of all and this has led to many becoming obsessed with many temporary fixes such as dermal filling to plump put expression lines and wrinkles and the most well known an perhaps infamous treatment; Botox.

Botox is of course the trade name for the neurotoxin Botulinum toxin A; the effect this has on the muscle when it is injected is to weaken its ability to contract. The toxin has been used for around 30 years in the medical field to correct eye muscle spasms which can be a nuisance to some. When used cosmetically it can be applied to soften wrinkles caused by facial muscle contraction. Its effects can last for between 3-6 months.

The problem it seems though is that many take this obsession too far and can end up with an unnaturally marble smooth forehead or an inability to frown giving them a startled appearance. In cases where practitioners are inexperienced or unethical too much of the toxin can be applied and patients can end up with dropping brows.
Many more ethical practiooners will prefer to administer a little less toxin than needed and ask you to come back for a check-up after 2 weeks in order to attain the perfect result. This method has now been given a name; Baby Botox.

Botox can certainly be very effective as a temporary measure to diminish the appearance of wrinkles and expression lines but as we age it may be necessary to opt for surgical procedures such as facelift surgery and Blepharoplasty (eye bag removal surgery).

It is of course worth remembering that although non surgical procedures such as Botox injection are relatively cheap (averaging at around £200 per zone) you will need to go for top ups every 3-6 months on a permanent basis. Therefore it may be much more cost effective to turn to cosmetic surgery to provide a more permanent solution.

If you are considering cosmetic surgery procedures in the UK such as Blepharoplasty you should seek an accredited surgeon who is registered with BAPRAS or BAAPS to ensure this plastic surgery runs smoothly.

Wheelchair Rental for Travel or Temporary Impairment

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Previously we I discussed buying second hand wheelchairs and heres another option, which is wheelchair rental. This form of rental of wheelchair is ideal for people who suffer injuries temporarily impairing their mobility or people who are travelling or going on vacation who have disabilities or impaired mobility both benefit from wheelchair rental services. Wheelchairs, scooters, and electric wheelchairs can be rented locally or reserved online.

Health insurance will sometimes covers the cost of wheelchair rentals, if you have a doctor’s prescription. Pharmacies, hospitals, and clinics usually rent wheelchairs. Check your yellow pages, a section on wheelchairs may exist.

Wheelchair rental services are available for travellers so if you’re planning a vacation, or travelling by plane, look into it, it will make your travelling experience more comfortable. Airports will offer wheelchair and scooter rentals for travellers. You can rent a wheelchair-accessible vehicle and wheelchair with the same services and have everything waiting at the airport. You should be able to find a wheelchair or scooter rental service in any major airport or city. Renting scooters can make a visit to a theme park or other tourist attraction easier for people with reduced mobility as well.

If you’re going on a cruise ship, make plans in advance and be sure to book with a cruise line that will offer you accommodation with your needs taken into consideration.

Wheelchair rental services help people with limited mobility, offering convenient services for travellers and for people who suffer injuries.

Remember researching before renting your wheelchair will pay off.

Is Obama Merchandise a Temporary Fad, or is it Here to Stay?

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

You would have to be living under a rock to not know about the tsunami of products being sold related to the new First Family Obama. Why are people buying up all these items with his image, words, voice or likeness connected to them somehow? Is this going to a short lived fad or craze, or a part of everyday life and pop culture that you might as well get accustomed to seeing for the next several years. At least the next 4, maybe even 8.

It is not that Barack Obama was not known well before November 4, 2008. Tow years ago Oprah introduced him on her show as an upcoming and, “person to be watching,” senator, to promote his book, “The Audacity of Hope.” The craving and popularity for Barack Obama products grew and flourished throughout the two year campaign. One of the longest, most followed political campaigns in our nations history.

The dam broke and the real flood for soaking up the First Family Obama products came the day after the election on November 5, 2008. Newspapers flew off shelves, like bees fly to honey, faster than they could be printed. It seemed, everyone wanted to pick up something tangible that connected and was a souvenir of this historical election.

So why are people putting up their hard earned dollars for all this First Family Obama merchandise, in what is predicted to be one of the biggest recession, money strugging, frustrating times since the great depression?
Could it be only because he is the first black, or if put politically correct, African American president? Or is it because his struggle to come from a single parent home, of humble beginnings and his achievement of climbing to the highest office in the country, is a true rags to riches story of inspiration to all of us. I personally feel it may be a combination of both, but the later reason carries the most significance.

Will this current tsunami of attention to First Family Obama products last or is it just a passing fad? The future will certainly answer that question, but our newly elected President Barack Obama is a highly educated, articulate and intelligent political figure and I am sure as each day of his growing administration comes, the products, will continue to proliferate too.

Temporary Tattoos A Permanent Solution

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

These days, more and more individuals are deciding to permanently leave their mark – on their own skin. If done by a qualified tattoo artist, the risks may be minimal. Unfortunately for many, however, unsanitary equipment or later appearing infections are creating big problems for tattoo enthusiasts.

Not so long ago, temporary tattoos were something that was found in a bubble gum wrapper or in the toy section at the local retail store. Why? Because children loved to have their own tattoos, but only the safe kind that would wash away and cause no permanent change. Now, some adults are beginning to think that kids have the right idea. Temporary tattoos are no longer just for children and in fact are now often available as longer lasting, adult skin tattoos.

The one thing that all temporary tattoos have in common is, you guessed it, they are temporary. There is no risk of contracting an illness or the tattoo site becoming infected, which is a very promising thought to those who are health conscious. Temporary tattoos are not only safe, but they are easy to remove with nothing more than soap and water. This is a big contrast to the permanent images, which require medical attention for removal.

If an individual is almost certain that they wish to have a permanent tattoo placed on their body, they may want to try a temporary tattoo first. In order to find the right design and placement, some individuals are finding the temporary tattoos are a terrific way to experiment with various designs and areas at a very affordable price. Once a permanent tattoo is done, the only way to have it removed is through surgery. Rather than going through the process a dozen times before finding the perfect tattoo, some adults are deciding to try out a temporary tattoo and the conveniences of washing it away with a few swipes of the soap.

Quality temporary tattoos, in many cases, look exactly like the real thing. These can be found online or possibly at a tattoo parlor directly. Before purchasing a permanent tattoo, the customer should be certain that the symbol is one that will be admired for life. Some individuals tattoo the name of their significant other only to find that, years later, the relationship is over. Many people are staying away from personalization for this very reason, but others still celebrate their love by putting it in writing – literally. Whether or not a tattoo is personalized, the depicted image should be one that is special and meaningful so that it will always be treasured.

Failure Is Temporary

Failure Is Temporary

by Raymond Johnston Jr.

Would you like me to give you a formula for…success? It`s quite simple,
really. Double your rate of failure… You`re thinking of failure as the
enemy of success. But it isn`t at all…You can be discouraged by failure -
or you can learn from it. So go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can.
Because, remember that`s where you`ll find success. On the far side of
failure.

Thomas J. Watson, Sr.

This is very true in our everyday lives but it especially rings true in the
internet marketing world. The people who are making the money are the ones
who are willing to fail. So many have such great expectations when they
start working on the internet, yet so many can`t handle the failure that
comes with the territory.

Can you make money on the net? Yes. Are you going to have failures? Yes The
question is are you going to fight back when those failures happen. So many
get discouraged so fast. Maybe the unrealistic expectations have something
to do with it. Dollar signs put wild fantasies in so many minds.

Most everyone who is successful on the internet today has had their times of
failure. In fact there are going to be a lot of disappointments along the
road to success. This is like any other business, it takes time and effort
to make ones dream come true.

The old adage of learn from your mistakes is very true on the road to being
successful in the internet marketing world. The only way to learn is to get
your feet wet and see what it`s like. You can watch and learn, you can study
and learn but experience is still the best teacher.

So many get discouraged and give up the idea of working on the internet. The
fact is that it is not going to be easy but if you have the drive and the
willingness to learn, you can be successful. You must go in knowing that you
are not going to be rich tomorrow. You must realize that failure will be a
part of becoming successful.

The answer to becoming a success in the marketing world is pretty much the
same as everywhere else. You must be willing to work and you must not let
failure get you down. Failure is a temporary situation, learn from it.

Is Your Defeat Temporary or Permanent?

Friday, November 28th, 2008

You have goals, you want to reach them and you do all you can – or so you think – to achieve them, but the chances are that you meet defeat along the way because this is the nature of life. Do you or have you given up? Have you thought that your goal was unrealistic or that you are just not good enough? Did you think; “Well I gave it my best shot, it did not work, so now I will go back to my “normal” life.” OR “Who am I to think such grandiose thoughts?”

When this happens to you or if it has already happened, I want you to keep in mind and remember that when your plans fail, temporary defeat does not mean permanent failure. It means only that your plan did not work. Maybe your plan needs to be re-looked at, tweaked or even changed completely. If a plan fails, it is not the plan that has failed, but it is the person who created the plan. This may be quite harsh to digest, but it is a fact.

So go back to the drawing board, speak to the experts if you need to and make another plan. Do this until you find the plan that works. The success of your goal and of your plan to reach your goal lies in your effort and your persistence. So if you give up after your first defeat, it is you that has failed, not the plan. It works with everything in life. If you can hold onto your desire with all your might, try everything possible until you find what works, you will be met with success? It is up to you. What will you do next time you are met with “temporary defeat”? It works with everything in life. If you can hold onto your desire with all your might, try everything possible until you find what works, you will be met with success? It is up to you. What will you do next time you are met with “temporary defeat”?

Increase your chances of making your dreams happen with Persistence, Discipline and Effort.

Temporary Setbacks or Permanent Failure?

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Nearly thirty years ago, I went rock climbing for the first time with a group in New Mexico. It sounded exciting and challenging! After a day and a half of training, which they called, “bouldering,” we were ready to climb! Then reality set in.

When climbing a mountain, you just cannot go from the bottom to the top in five easy steps! There are obstacles and there are set backs. You also make mistakes. And, even though I was tied to a rope, and could not fall off the mountain, at times it was scary.

Anyone who has ever climbed knows that you can easily end up where there is no place to go, or so it seems. You`re stuck. But quitting is not an option.

You cannot just stand there and feel sorry for yourself. It is pointless to wonder what you did wrong that got you into such a predicament. You cannot go back down, so you are forced to become solution minded. In other words, you find a way to get to the top. You figure out a way to succeed.

I held on for dear life that day, on my first climb, stuck about three quarters of the way to the top. It seemed that there was no place to go, and nowhere to put my hands or feet so that I could continue upward. But after a few minutes had passed and I realized that I had to do something, I began to look again for a solution.

I then noticed a rock sticking out, that I might be able to grab with my hands and pull myself up to where I could have a small foothold. I called to the instructor at the top and asked him if that rock would hold my weight if I pulled myself up. I can still remember his answer, “I don`t know. Why don`t you try it and see?”

In life we many times feel, “stuck.” We wonder how we got into the situation that we are presently in. It is in those times that we need to be careful about how we define it. Have we failed, or, is it just a setback?

W. Clement Stone once said, “Defeat is never the same as failure unless and until it has been interpreted as such.”

Setbacks, adversity, or being stuck are never an indication that you are a failure unless you decide that those things define your life as a failure. For people looking for an excuse to be a failure, there are always plenty to choose from.

But if you want your life to be successful, setbacks, adversity and being stuck are simply stepping-stones to your success. Success minded people accept those kinds of things for what they really are. They know that for them, they are only temporary.

There are countless stories of men and women who faced setbacks and became very successful. Perhaps one of the most known is that of Abraham Lincoln. A number of “lists” that you can find on the internet are exaggerated, and some of the items are misleading and untrue. But Abe did indeed face a number of hard times and setbacks. Here are a few that I have found to be accurate.

His mother died when he was nine. He was co-owner of a general store in Illinois that went out of business. The girl he loved and wanted to marry, Ann Rutledge, died.

He failed in his first attempt to obtain political office for the Illinois state legislature. He did not get the land officer position that he wanted.

In two separate election years, he did not get elected to the United States Senate. He didn`t get enough votes to be his party`s nomination for Vice-President of the United States.

But, he was elected president of the United States in 1860 and in 1864.

It doesn`t matter what others think or say about you. How you define your own life and circumstances every day is very important. Define all your setbacks as simply temporary and refuse to even use the word “failure.”

By the way, I did grab onto that rock, and when I did, it moved, just a little! I then decided to grab it again. I realized that the worst that could happen was that it would come out and it might bang me up a little. I knew I couldn`t fall off the mountain because of the rope, so I pulled on that rock again!

It moved, just a little, but it held me as I pulled myself to the next foothold. Several minutes later, I was at the top. I informed the instructor that the rock sticking out a number of feet below us was loose. “Yes,” he said quietly, “I noticed that on my way up earlier.”

2008 Royal International Horse Show, Hickstead – New Woodhouse Temporary Stable Barns

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

What a difference a year made at the 2008 RIHS Hickstead. As spectators and competitors alike basked in the mid 20° sunshine, all were happy to leave behind the wellingtons, mud and rain of 2007.
Competition was strong in the Hickstead International Arena, with Germany taking its third successive win in the sixth round of the 2008 Super League Nations Cup and Britain and Sweden sharing second place. Charlotte Platt, riding Paulien, made her debut for the British team and produced two clear rounds, much to the delight of the excited Hickstead spectators.

Behind the scenes, five new Woodhouse Temporary Stabling Barns were entering service for the international competitors for the first time. These hard-wall stable barns comprise two single rows of spacious 12m² Quickstables, separated by a generous 4m gangway and roofed with a stunning curved Clearspan® roof. The operational result is a well-ventilated temporary stabling environment for the horses and bright and spacious working conditions for the grooms and competitors alike.
On Tuesday the RIHS temperatures peaked at 29°C and the temporary stabling barns maintained a cool breeze and calm horses. An American groom remarked she had been travelling with large fans to keep her horses cool and this was the first temporary stabling facility where she didn’t need them at all.

Security personnel at the International Stabling Area were bemused at the constant stream of interested people who hiked across from the Hickstead International Arena to view the five impressive temporary stabling barns. Two visiting FEI officials were overheard saying these were the best temporary stabling facilities they had seen so far this year.
Woodhouse has set a new standard with their temporary stabling barns and there is no doubt that the horses, grooms and competitors are the ultimate winners!

Temporary Child Custody – What Does it Mean to You?

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

If you are going through a divorce or are considering a divorce then temporary child custody is something you will need to pay a lot of attention to. Don`t let the word temporary throw you. This really is the foundation for final custody arrangements. What ever happens with the children during this time will have a huge effect on the final ruling when it comes to formalising the custody arrangements. The time between the start and finish of the proceedings will be very important when it comes to things like the children`s routines and where they are most comfortable.

A lot of people think that because the term temporary is in there that they don`t need to focus on it too much because they can put all there effort into the formal proceedings. I highly recommend that you use a lawyer and get the arrangement in writing. You must also make sure it is a fair agreement and you are completely happy and comfortable with it. Do your research, find out your rights and please exercise them, you may not get another chance. Even if you come to an agreement without a lawyer or a court room you still need to know your entitlements. A lot of people just give in to their ex because they don`t want the hassle or they feel they don`t need to focus on this part of the proceedings. The judge that makes the final ruling on the custody arrangements will definately take into consideration the temporary child custody arrangements and this may come back to bite you.

The best thing to do is get yourself some professional advice and really make sure you set yourself up for the formal custody arrangement. Treat the temporary child custody arrangement as if it were the real thing. There is a lot of good professional advice online but you need to really search for it and you don`t want to end up taking advice from someone who has no idea what they are talking about. Get your hands on some professional, proven strategies.

You really do need a comprehensive guide to help you through this tough time. I have the best strategies all layed out for you. Temporary Child Custody made easy!
